[N] Hey guys, I'm doing a quick lesson for Patrick.
He wanted to learn how to play
the intro to 14 Gears by Midland, so I'm gonna teach you how to play that real
quick.
[A] The chords for this song are gonna be A, [G] [D] G, and D, and I'm [A] doing this with a
drop D tuning [D] for that to get that final note [A] that they play there for that
intro.
So we're doing [G] A, [G#] G, if you don't know how to play the G [G] with that drop D
tuning, you're playing the fifth fret on the sixth string, [Dm] and then I'm just
playing my first finger here on the third fret second string, [G]
[D] and then D.
[A] So
[C] what we're doing, [C#m] so here's what the [A] intro sounds like that you're gonna be
playing the lead over.
It's gonna be A.
[G]
[D] [A]
For the intro it just [G] does that
progression two times, [D] so that's what you play the lead over.
So the way it's
[A] played is starting here on the second fret third string.
I'm gonna go ahead and
play it through that real slow for you one time.
[D] [A]
[F] [D] [A] So we're doing [D] three times on
[C] the second [A] fret here, [Bm] and we move up to the fourth fret third string, [A]
[Dm] [A]
back to the
[G] second, and then we're doing a bend here on the second fret fourth [E] string.
So
we're bending, [F] [E] and then back up to the E note,
[A]
and then we're going [N] open fourth
[D] string.
[A]
[D] [G] So that's three [D] hits, and we're coming to the fifth string.
[B] [A]
[B] We're
going second fret, [A] and then open.
[B]
[A] [C] Then the sixth string here, second fret, we're
doing [E] another bend, and then we're [D]
ending on that drop D note.
So here it is
one more time.
[A]
[D] [A]
[F] [D]
[A] [D]
[F] [D]
Hopefully that's enough for you to get that there.
Not too hard.
I'm also doing a little bit [Am] of palm muting on this, so I'm not playing them
full out.
You can play it full [A] out if you want.
[D]
[N] I think it sounds a little bit
better with it palm muted, so [C#] that's how I'm [A] playing it.
[D]
So hopefully [N] that's
enough for you to get that Patrick.
I'll go ahead and play through it one more
time real slow, and you should be able to get it from that.
I appreciate the
request.
