Hey guys, welcome back again to Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy, where the proof is in the singing.
We decided to take on a Dio medley.
Now, I've done my own version, it's on my channel,
[G] you can check it out, but I thought it'd be really cool to do a female version too.
So, first, we're going to do the song, and we'll talk about it after like we always do.
Ronnie James Dio, let's go!
Alright.
[Am] [C]
[G] [F] [G] [F]
[C] There are [G] sheep without a [Am] stone, cold without a warm, [Cm] [G] light inside a darkness that it needs, yeah.
[C] There are life [G] without a [Am] tear, hope without a [C] fear, [G] they are broken.
[Cm] [G] [A]
[G] [D] [A] [F] [Am]
[Gm] [Am] [G] [A]
They answer to [Am] which, never come home, [G] is a message [A] not a song,
love is born upon the cross, with the throne of glory tossed.
[Am] If [G] they realize themselves to be whole, [A] [Ab] [A]
they're not coming home,
they're a choir, they're a [G] show, but as they're, [A] [C] [F]
they're not from the cross.
[G]
If they even more [A] lost in love, [Gm]
[D] [A] [F] [Am] they're lost in [G]
[D] [Am] [G]
[Am] [F] [G]
wonder,
[A] [C] [G] you [Am] know they all came [G] down.
[Am] Cause it's real, and I see [G] what it means, to [Em] be [Am] lost and never [C] found.
[G] He cried [A] around for [Fm] magic, [G] he's better [A] dancing in the [Fm] light.
[G] He was [Am] cold, [E] [G] lost his home [Am] to the shadows [G] away,
[E]
no sign [F] of the morning coming,
[E] living [F] left on their own, [G] like a rainbow, [Am] [G] [Am] a rainbow in the dark.
[G] [Am]
[B] [Am] [B]
[Am] [D] [Am] It's the same [B] old song, [Am] you gotta be somewhere [D] sometime,
[Am] [B] they'll never [A] let you fly.
It's like a broken [B] glass, [Am] it's cut before you [D] see it,
[Am] so open [B] up [Am] your eyes.
[D] [Am]
You got desire, [F] so let it [C] out,
you got the [G] power, [Am] stand up and shout, [B] [Am] shout,
stand up and shout, [B] [Am] shout.
[D] [Am]
Woo, awesome [N] job, awesome job Gabby.
Alright, so what's really important about this is I get asked a lot,
Ken, how do I get good distortion, how do I distort my voice safely,
how do I do it without losing my voice?
Well, what I've worked up with Gabriela is we work up a very clean sound,
correct me if I'm wrong, this girl rocks, I mean she does her hour, hour and a half
workout every single day, and then we come in the studio and sing for two or three hours
on top of it, sometimes four hours, I mean like it's a long day.
So we start out with a clean sound first, and little by little,
with good open throat technique, we grow that sound and we can lean into it
more and more by cutting back the air, holding the breath,
and then kind of pushing into that sound with natural distortion,
not a contrived distortion that can hurt you severely.
So anyway, the next thing I want to talk about too,
if you're interested, click here, you can check out my course,
Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy, cover all of this in the course if you're interested,
and we have more stuff coming your way, so stay tuned,
and until next time, peace out.
See you soon.
