Hey friends, Joe here at Reverb.com. Today we are diving into some riffs and songwriting techniques of George Harrison,
one of the all-time greatest.
In this video, we're going to be learning the solo to All My [F#] Lovin'.
[G#] [A] [Em] [G#m]
[A] [E] [F#m] [E] [F#m]
[A] [E]
In this solo, George is definitely showing his Chet Atkins influence.
George definitely expressed his interest and his adoration for Chet.
So, the technique with your right hand,
we're going to be using some picking as well as some finger work on the top end as well.
So, we are going to start here on the E, on the D string,
the second fret there, and that's a quick little snap to the low E, walk up to A.
[F#] [G#] A [A]
[E] [F#] [G#] [A]
bar chord there.
I like grabbing the top two strings and then the B and G.
[B] We got to make it [E] snappy.
[F#] [G#] [A] [A#] Then [Bm] we're sliding [A#] up
to that ninth fret there on the G and E.
[G#m] Then we got this shape here,
kind of like a D minor shape,
[A] and then the upper structure of your A bar chord there.
[A#] So those three shapes.
[A#] [G#m]
[A] [E] And then we have an E,
just a D shape, two frets up, and then throwing this pinky here on the third, on the G sharp,
[G#m] [A] [E]
[F#] [G#] [A]
[Em] [G#m] [A] [E]
alternating those strings there on that E chord.
Cool, and then up here to another E shape,
[Cm] sliding into it.
[E]
[C] Ninth fret there on the G and B, seventh [D#] fret on the E.
[E]
Same D minor shape, just two frets down from where it was [F#m] before,
[E] to the E again.
Now we're going to F sharp minor.
[F#m]
Same [G] rhythm there with your right [F#] hand and your fingers there.
[F#m]
Then you're sliding that up, and then with the same rhythm with your right hand, [A] you're going up here.
That's going to be an A major there, the third and the bass.
That's the same shape you're using here on this E as well, right?
[E] And then finish it off with an open E chord.
Get the low E and the high E together, and then this [B] nifty little
[E] just [Em]
hammer it on to that first fret on the G string, open B, and landing on E.
[E] [C] One, two, [E] a waltz.
[F#] [G#] [A]
[G] [G#m] [A] [E]
[F#m] [E] [F#m]
[A] [E]
So keep in mind here, there is a pickup to the solo.
There's an anticipated entrance.
So I will play that pickup along with you, this guy here.
[F#]
[G#] And then I'll go to the chords, you go to the solo.
Cool?
One, [C#] two, [E] a bump.
[F#]
[G#] [A] [E]
[F#m]
[A] [E]
[A] All righty.
Thanks so much for watching this segment of [E] our Riffs in the Key of George Harrison video [F#m] series.
