Start Jamming...
[F] You're a good good father, the two [C] you are, the two you are
[F] Hey guys, it's Dylan Lane [C] and today I'm going to teach you how to play Good Good Father by Chris Tomlin
I've also made a song sheet for this song [E] with the lyrics, the chords, and also the [F] pictures of the chords
The link to download that song [C] sheet will be in the description box below
Before we get [Am] started, if you haven't already subscribed, make sure you [G] do so
I'll [Am] be posting lots of ukulele tutorial [F] videos
I'll also [C] be posting videos with songwriting tips and tricks that I learned at Berklee College of Music
And I love to write [G] my own songs, so I'll be posting [C] originals in [F] addition to covers
Alright, let's get started
[C]
So for Good Good Father you will need to know four chords
The C chord, [F]
the F chord, the G chord, and [G]
the A minor chord
[Am] [C] The strum pattern is down, down up, down up
Let's try that slower
Down, down up, down up
So [Dm] something that's really helpful to know about this song is that it starts on the chord C
And you stay on C all the way through the word night
When you get to the word night, you switch to F and then [C] we'll keep going from there
I've heard a thousand stories of what they think you're like
And I've heard the tender whisper of love in the dead of night
[F] And you tell me
F, and then from F it goes [F#m] to A minor, and then F, and then G, like this
[F]
And you tell me [Am] that you're pleased [F] and that I'm over [G] alone
And then we go to the chorus
[F#] So to break it down, the verse is [C] C all the way through the word night
[F] And then we go to F, [Am] and then A minor, [F] and then F, [G]
and G
And it'll be like that in all the verses
So in the second verse you can [Am] apply that same thing about the C chord
Which is that at the very beginning of the second verse you start on C
And you stay on C all the way through the word no, K-N-O-W, no
And which will go to the F chord, and then back to A minor, F, [G] [F] G, just like we did with the first verse
Okay, so now for the chorus
The chorus starts on F
And F will be played on the word father, which is kind of helpful to remember
So the word father starts with F, and the beginning of the chorus starts with F
You're a good, good father, that's who you are [C] C
That's who you are [Am] A minor
That's who you are [G] G
And I'm loved [C] by [F] F You
That's who I am [C] C
That's who I am [Am] A minor
That's who I [G] am G
And all the while keeping up with your down, down, up, down, up, down, down, up, down, up, down, up, down, up, down, up, down, up, down, up
Or to slow it down
Down, down, up, down, up, down, down, up, down, [E] up
And remember, it's always so much easier to slow your strum pattern down
Slow it down so much so that you can play it comfortably
And then whenever it becomes easy, then speed it up just a little bit
And then play it at that speed until it becomes easy
And then just keep doing that all the way up until you're at full speed
Which in this case, I'm playing it at [F] about
Okay,
[C]
so now let's move on to the bridge, which starts at
You are perfect in all of your ways
[F] So the way that I play this bridge is I start on F
And F will come in on the word perfect
So you are perfect in all of your [Am] ways A minor
You are F [F] perfect in all [Am] of your ways [G] G
You [Am] are F [F] perfect in all of your ways A [Am] minor To G [G] F
Okay, so let's talk about the last verse, which is very similar to the first two verses
And the only difference is that it ends with the part that goes
As you call me deeper still
Into love, love, love
And then it goes back into the chorus
For this part, we're going to start with the same way we've started the other verses
[C] Oh, it's love, so
Undeniable, I, I can hardly speak Peace, so
Unexplainable, I, I can hardly speak
As you call F
[B] We're going to go back and forth from F [F] to A minor over and over
As you call me [Am] deeper still
As you [F] call me [Am] deeper still
[F] As you call me [Am] deeper still
Into [F] love, love [C] G [G] Love
You're [F] a good, good father
To [C] you are, to [Am] you are, to you [G] are
[F] And, uh, alright, that's about it
So to [C] sum things up, you need to know the chords C, G, A minor, and F
The [G] strum pattern is down, down, up, [F] down, up
And if you want to play along with me, [C] I just posted a cover of this song
With [Am] the exact same chords and strum pattern and everything
[G] Also, if you have any tutorial requests, [C] please let me [F] know in the comments down below
[C] So I can teach you whatever you guys want to learn
Alright, have a great day, and
