Hey guys today, I'm going to show you how to play grow old with you by Adam Sandler on ukulele and
I'm playing my tenor
Ukulele with a low G for the number four string in standard tuning.
Let's get started with the chords
The very first chord is a C.
[F] The next chord is an F.
[D]
The next chord is a G
[G] The [Eb]
last chord is a C7
All [C]
[C] [N]
right for the strum pattern I put up some letters at the bottom of your screen some D's and some use
Those represent down strums and up strums and those are to help you with the strum pattern if you look at those letters
You'll notice that some of them are a little bit smaller and some are larger letters the smaller letters represent me strumming only the second
Third and fourth strings on the ukulele and the larger letters represent me strumming all of the strings
so that's the difference the strum pattern is just down up down up down up, but
Refer to the letter sizes to get you know how many strings to strum.
I'll go ahead and demonstrate
How I play it holding the C chord here.
[C]
That's the exact same strum pattern used throughout the entire song
This is how the verse is played
Start out with the C into the [F] F into the [G] G
[F] Back to the F [C] back to the C
[G] G [F] F
[C] C and then in between the first and the second verse you have this little build up from C
[Eb] [G]
G [Ab] and then it goes into the second verse.
I'll go ahead and play the verse for you one time through
[C] [F]
[G] [C]
[F] [C]
[G] [C] you
The second verse is played the exact same way as the first verse except for
the the build up at the very end that I showed you the
[G] C to the G instead [N] of doing that
Like at the end of the first verse at the end of the second verse
you'll do [C] you'll end with C 7th and
Then from C 7th you'll go right into the bridge
[F] the bridge starts out with the F and
[C] the C
[F] And [C] then I just use my thumb a little down strum on the [G] G
down strum on the [F] F
And then you play the last verse after that so I'm going to show you the second verse into the bridge
[C] [F]
[C]
[Dm] [C]
[F] [C]
[F] [G]
[F] [Dm]
After the bridge you'll play that [G] the very last verse and the only difference here is at the very end of the song
Give it one more little G
F
[C] Into the C
He just repeats the words [Ab] one last time at the end of the song.
That's it.
It's just the verse in the bridge really simple song
