[F] Hey, what's up everybody?
This is Alex [Fm] Samson and today
I'm going to show you how to get your hands on note for note transcriptions of [Cm] 21 infamous gospel bass runs
I'm talking about gospel bass runs and licks from some of today's [Bb] hottest gospel bass
All [Eb]
[F] right, [Cm] so we don't want to waste [Db] any time
What we're going to do is hop [Fm] right into the first bass lick and it comes from our bad boy
Sheree Reed [G] off of the song.
Thank you.
It's a lick that people ask me for [F] all the time
So I'm going to break it down first.
I'll do a little play along show you [Fm] how the lick works
I'm going to break down nice and slow for you
Give you notes and everything [G] and then we'll move on to lick number two
[Dm]
[C] [F] [Gbm]
[C] [A]
[Bb] [Eb] [F] [Gm]
[G] [Eb]
[F] [Fm]
All right, so why don't we take a quick look at what our boy Sheree was doing [F] right there first off
You'd want to know that the lick was [Fm] used over something of like an Eb
6 over [Cm] 9 chord so something like
[A] That kind of sound and what happened is he came out of [C] the C chord
[D]
[Eb] So we're at the D and now he's the keyboard player is moving to that Eb
To [E] the Eb [Fm] 6 over 9 [Am] and the lick the [Gb] Sheree uses kind of goes like [D] this
[Eb]
[Gb] So let me break [Cm] that down for you
On the D string he slides into the 10th fret [G] and then he plays 10 11 12 on the G string
[Gbm] [A] With a bit of a vibrato
Now we're doing 12 on the D [G] string again and then 12 on the G so [Gb] so far we have
Mm [A] -hmm pretty easy you want to get that below your fingers
[G] Now we're gonna play 11 and 10 [Am] on the D string so
[Eb]
[A] [Eb] And finally we go to an 11 on the E, which is that E flat [Gb] with a vibrato again
[Eb] [Ab] So how's about I use my metronome at like 90 BPM and we can hear what that sounds like in time
[C]
[D]
[Eb] [F]
Mm-hmm
[A] So that's the first of the runs that I kind of want to show you today
See if you get under your fingers and you're gonna definitely find some places where you can use it
[Eb] All right, so we're gonna take a look [F] at bass run number two.
This one's gonna come out [Fm] from our buddy [G] Tad
Tribbett [F] now this ain't [Cm] no joke.
This is a lick that everybody is [Bbm] always freaking out over [Fm]
and I'm gonna break down for you today
