Hello, I'm going to show you how to play Till the Morning Comes by Neil Young off of the album After the Gold Rush.
It's a pretty simple song, so let's take a look.
[F] [C] [Dm]
[G] [Dm]
[G] [C]
[F] [D]
[G] [D]
[Dm] [G] [C]
[F] [Am] [Dm]
[G] [Dm]
[G] [C]
[F] [D] It's got an awesome little [G] trumpet solo there.
[D] [Dm]
[G] And then it just [C] repeats.
[F] [Dm]
[G] And then it just repeats the whole [D] thing and then it fades out.
It's [C] a really short, really easy song.
So, first chord is the C major chord, regular C chord.
It's third fret of the A [E] string, second fret of the D, [A] open G, first fret of the [Gb] B string,
[C] open E.
So we're just strumming that.
And then we're going to an F [F] chord.
Alright, the way I'm playing this F chord, I'm doing this on purpose.
I'm not just doing a bar F because we're going to do [D] a little walk down to [A] this D minor.
[F] So, F chord I'm playing.
[C] I do it like this.
I have my ring finger on the third fret, just like in the C, so I don't have to move that
when I switch.
[C] Alright, so I'm just leaving [Ab] my ring [F] finger there on the third fret of the C.
Third fret of the D, I've got my pinky.
Then I've got my middle finger on the second fret of the [C] G string.
First finger stays in the same place [F] from the C chord
[C] on the first fret of [E] the B, then
open, no, [F] actually I bar the first fret there of the E string.
If you have a lot of trouble with barring, you can just play these middle four strings
as they are, but if you want that higher note to ring out, you can bar the first and [G] second
strings on the first fret there, [F] like this.
Alright, [C] now when we come over from the C, I like to hammer on [G] up from the open [A] G to
the second fret of the [Eb] G with my middle finger into the [C] chord because it matches the melody line.
I'm going to give it [F] to the morning sun.
Alright, and then we're going to do a walk down on the D string.
You already have your finger on the third fret of the D.
We're going to pluck that,
then [E] we're going to go to the second fret of the D with our middle finger, [D] then open
D, and we're making a D minor chord.
D minor is open D, second fret of the G, third fret of the [F] B, first fret of the [Dm] E string.
[C] Alright, so we're going [F]
[E] [Dm] to that D minor.
Then [G] we're just going to a regular G chord, which is third fret of the E [B] string, second
fret of the [D] A, open [G] D, open [B] G, open B, third fret of the E string.
Alright, and that's the whole song.
So, just kind of get the rhythm right, play [C] around with the F chord, [F] that little hammer
on thing I showed you, the step [E] down on the D string, [Dm] [G]
[Dm]
[G] [C] C,
[F] and [D] [Dm]
[G] [Dm]
[G] [C]
[F] [Dm]
[G] [Dm]
[G] that's the end of the song.
It just fades out and repeats, so it's a pretty easy one.
Hope you have fun with
