[A] Hello, my [E] name is Paco Peña and I play the guitar.
I play flamenco guitar and I'd like to just show
Just a tiny example of some of the things that we do in flamenco
Which is it's a very kind of music with many different aspects to it, but on the guitar
There is a very characteristic flamenco sound which is rasgueado
You actually bash the guitar in a very rhythmical
Alive sort of way and I'll just quickly show
Rasgueado really is
Using the fingers in a fun kind of way
You go across the string and then
There are many ways of doing it.
I'll show you a few and you go down like that and return with the thumb
and
It's quite a traditional sound the
The other basic way to do that is going down
with the finger
Back with the index perhaps
[F] [E]
So you go fanning down
It's one rasgueado.
There are other ways of doing it.
For example, I do one which is in triplets
It's quite staccato
And I do that with the thumb going up the little finger going down and the index going down
[F] That sort of thing if there are other ways of doing it you do for example with the third finger and the index
[C] [F]
[E] Down with the anular with the third finger down with the index and back with the index
You can do that with a little one as well
So that many ways you go down with the middle finger down with the thumb and back with the thumb
[F] So there are different ways of expressing this particular characteristic flamenco sound and different people use different
Versions of it because they like to project a particular sound
The one I use most is the traditional one
[Am] [E] Just using all the fingers down and back with the index and also the one that I have kind of made up which is
In triplets.
[A] I just hope that helps a little bit
