Hi guys, Hammy's Boogie, the extended version.
Now, as you know, if you've been studying the videos
on this lesson for some time,
Hammy Howell was my first Boogie Woogie teacher.
He died back in January 1999 of heart failure.
He was a pretty legendary Boogie Woogie player.
He played with a British band in the 1970s called Darts,
D-A-R-T-S.
They were a doo-wop band
and they had quite a few top 10 hits.
And Hammy Howell was their piano player
and he taught me when I was still a teenager.
And he taught me, this was the first Boogie Woogie
really that I ever learned.
And he showed me how to play it.
He didn't call it Hammy's Boogie,
but I called it Hammy after Hammy Howell.
So that's the genesis of the name.
And in it, I'm [B] gonna play the chop in the [C] left hand.
You all know the chop,
but I'll just, camera person will film it very quickly.
The chop is simply that.
So that's basically the left hand.
And I'm [N] gonna ask camera person
to focus primarily on the right hand.
And I'll play this at a moderate [G] pace
so that you can see what I'm doing.
And you can download the sheet music for this lesson,
I suppose, when we get it transcribed.
But let's start off with a G augmented.
