How's it going guys today?
I'm going to show you a quick tutorial on how to play black Jesus by everlast
It's pretty fun song to play
Good campfire song you might
You might need to know a little bit about how to play fire chords to be able to do it, but
It's actually pretty easy once you know it's only four chords.
We're in open standard tuning
You can technically play it in whatever tune you want to
Like if you want to put your capo on the second fret it makes it a little bit easier to push down on the strings
especially if you're using bar chords, but
So we'll start off
It's four chords the entire way through
Chorus and the verses are all the same chords so that makes it super easy even if it is bar chords
So very to start off
we're going to bar the third fret and
Barring it's actually a lot easier if you only put your
Finger on the first two strings, and then just lightly push
You don't even have to push down on the rest as long as they're muted you're fine
It's a lot easier to do bar chords that way
Takes a lot of pressure off your fingers, and you want to push your arm in a little bit that way
So that you can access all the chords
so you got your
index finger on the third fret
First two strings barred at least and then you take your
Ring finger and your pinky and you're going to be putting it on
The fifth fret so you got one space in between there, and then the next two strings down so first four strings are all
Pushed down sure
So [C] you're gonna do that
It's gonna sound like that
You're only gonna be wanting wanting to hit the
[Ab] First couple strings [C] on here if you hit the bottom you'll probably mess it up slightly
It'll sound weird so it's almost like a power chord basically
So yeah, we're on the third fret for that one.
That's the first one so
black Jesus
[D] And then we go up [E] to the sixth fret I believe yeah six frets
Exact same position you're not switching it.
It's gonna stay the same position for all four chords
So we're on the sixth one [Eb] now
white [C] Moses
[Gb] Then [Em] we go [D] down to the third
and
then the [Bb] first Hell closes [N] if you
Need a video to play along with I do have a cover.
I'll post the link here
One easier to play along with the cover for sure
Especially if you can see the [C] chords, and if you know which ones they are anyway, so third fret
[Eb]
[D] [Bb]
[C] [Ebm]
[D] [Bb] [C]
[Eb] [D]
[Bb] [C]
Down [Eb] down
Keep it [N] down
Again for the bar chords.
Just you don't have to put your fingers all the way down.
It's way too much effort
You're gonna cramp up definitely so
Keep your fingers [Eb] loose.
You don't have to push down that hard as long as the bottom strings are all muted
And you're not hitting the bottom strings
[B] So that's basically it
Standard tuning for the most part is usually easiest especially for the vocals there
But it depends on your voice range, so
black Jesus
Everlast very good song
