Hey everybody, hope you're doing well.
I want to show you something today that's pretty fun to do.
I'll teach it with the song I'll Fly Away.
It's an old gospel hymn, really good song.
[B] I want to use the chords G, [F#] C, and D.
[B] So three chords.
It's going to go G, C, then [F#] G, D.
[B] So that's the order of the chords.
What you want to do, it's going to be a sound like this.
Sure glad we're here, man, it's the life we're all about.
Fly away to the water, from the godless to the shore.
[F#] I will [B] fly away.
I will fly away.
Oh, lovely man, we'll spend the evening flying away.
In the morning, rain or shine.
And in the evening, [F#] I'll fly [B] away.
[N] So that might look pretty hard, but here's all I'm doing.
You're doing a bass note before you strum the chord.
So [B] on G, I go top string, down.
Then take your first finger, hammer on the fourth [F#] string
[B] on the second fret.
So go six down, fourth string, second [C#] fret, hammer on.
[F#] Then fourth open, [D#] then [B] fifth closed.
So each time after you do a hammer on or hit the note,
you want to strum down.
So six down, hammer on, down, open fourth string, down,
hammer on the fifth.
Fifth string, second fret.
So then move down to the C chord and do [E] five [B] down and hammer on the fourth.
Back up to G.
Now on the D, you're going to go [F#] four down, [B]
[F#] hammer on the third, down.
[B]
So all you've got to know, you've got to know the chords are G, C, [Fm] and G, D.
[B] On the G, you go six down, hammer fourth down, four down, five down.
On the C, five,
[F#] D.
[G#] It might look a little complicated, but it's fun to practice and keep
rewinding [B] and watching this till you get it.
It's a fun song to play.
Have a [E] great day.
God bless.
2009 is going to be a good year.
I'm excited.
