Hey guys, Party Marty here, Easy Guitar Tunes on YouTube.
We got another request from a friend of mine there by Alan Jackson.
It's called It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere.
Real fun tune to play at any party, any function.
Always goes over well, but he plays it with Jimmy Buffett, so that'll give you an idea.
It's a pretty fun tune.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this one.
There's five chords in it.
I also add a slap strum to it.
It's like a muted strum, and you can click on this little icon.
There's a little box that you can click on to go to my channel and get a demo of that slap strum if you need it.
The five chords to it are, the first one starts [D] out in D.
[A] Then there's an A.
[B] I'm still holding three fingers down, I just have to use two though, because my fingers [A] are bigger.
And then there's a [Bm] B minor.
You can barre the B minor as well, if you like.
[G] There's a G.
And [Em] an E minor.
So again, the chords are D, [D] [A] A.
Now I play B [Bm] minor without the barre.
Sometimes I play it with four fingers, or sometimes I just hold down the two strings with that third finger.
Either way you can do it, however you like, however you feel comfortable.
Just remember, if you are going to do it the cheat way, just remember to only pluck the strings that you're touching, okay?
There's B minor, and then it [G] goes up to G.
Then [Em] E minor.
So there we go.
I'm going to strum this one slow with the slap strum, as slow as I can.
And then we'll get into the song.
Here it goes.
[D] [A]
[A]
[Bm] [A] [G]
[D] [A]
[D] [G]
So it kind of goes something like that.
I'm going to speed it up just a little, [Ab] practice that if you have to a little bit, and then come and chew into the song with us.
Here we go, it's 5 o'clock [D] somewhere, Alan Jackson.
The
[G] [A] [D]

[D] sun is [A] hot in that old clock, [D] the roof is low, [A] so am I.
[D] Workday past [A] July, well that's the [Bm] same wintertime, [A] hey but it's July.
[G] Getting paid by the hour, [D] but not by the minute.
[A] Must you push [D] me over the limit?
[G] I could call it summer, [D] I think I'll just call [A] it a day.
[D] Oh, [G] something tall and strong [A] may hit a burrow, can't [D] be what I'm gonna say.
It's only half [G] past twelve, but [A] I don't care.
It's 5 [D] o'clock somewhere.
[G] [A]
[D] The slow [A] break is gonna [D] take all afternoon, [B] till half the night.
[D] Tomorrow [A] morning I know they'll [B] be able to pay, but [A] maybe that's alright.
[G] I ain't had a day off [D] yet, in over a year.
[A] Might be making vacations, [D] gonna stop right here.
[G] If the phone's for me, you can tell them I just [A] sent away.
[D] Oh, [G] something tall and strong [A] may hit a burrow, can't [D] be what I'm gonna say.
It's only half [G] past twelve, but I [A] don't care.
It's 5 [D] o'clock somewhere.
[G] [A]
[D] [Bm] I could pay off my [G] tab, put myself in a [A] cab, and be back from work [D] before noon.
[Bm] At a moment like [G] this, I can't help but [Em] wonder, what would Jimmy [E] Buffet do?
[D] He'd say, [G] oh, something tall and [A] strong may hit a burrow, [D] can't be what I'm gonna say.
It's only [G] half past twelve, but [A] I don't care.
