How To Play Drift Away - Dobie Gray (cover) Easy 4 Chord Tune chords
Start Jamming...
Hey guys, Marty here, Easy Guitar Tunes.
I've got another great tune, a slow tune, but a real fun tune nonetheless.
It's known the world over.
It's been covered by many, many people.
It's called
Drift Away by Dobie Gray.
Real fun tune to play.
Everybody plays it.
A lot of different keys that people have played it in I've seen over [D#] the years.
I actually played it
on the G key, [B] so it fits my voice a little better and it makes it a little easier to play.
Anyway, the chords to it are G, [G]
C,
[C]
[D] D, and A minor.
[Am] There's an A minor in there as well.
[G] Again, the G.
I play G a few different ways.
In this song
I usually play it that way because I do tend to come down
on the second string in the first fret just to kind of give it a nice
pretty feel.
[C] And then C.
You'll see me lift the second finger in the C chord.
I want to suspend the second finger.
It makes it sound good.
And [D] then the D.
You'll see me suspend the baby finger with the D just to make
it sound a little better.
[Am] And then the A.
And you'll see me suspend the
index finger on the A.
And you'll often see me
run from the A minor into C.
[C]
So those
are all just little [C#] tiny easy tricks.
Again, we'll go through them real quick.
[G] There's your G.
Then you'll hammer down on the [G] second finger first fret.
[C] C, just lift the middle finger and then back down.
[D] D, suspend the baby.
[Am] A minor, suspend the index.
And walk into [D] the C.
[Bm] [C]
[E] It's a very, very [G] slow tune.
That's pretty much how it's strung.
Kind of like that.
We'll practice that a few times and then give it a go.
It'll be great.
Drift away.
Here we go.
[B]
[C] Day after day I'm a [G]-movin' on you.
I
[C] look through the light through the [G] pouring rain.
[C] You know that's a game that [G] I hate to lose.
[Am] Now I'm feelin' strange.
[C] Layin' in shame.
[G] Oh, give me the beat
boy to free my [D] soul.
I wanna get lost in you
rock and roll [C] and drift away.
[G] Give me the beat boy to free my [D] soul.
I wanna get lost in you rock and [C] roll and drift
away.
[A]
[G]
[A] [C] I can't help but think that
I'm [G] wastin' time.
[C] I don't understand
the [G] things I do.
[C] The world
outside looks [G] so unkind.
[Am] I'm countin' on you [Bm] [C] to carry me through.
[G] Oh, give me the beat boy to free my soul.
[D] I wanna get lost in you rock and roll [C] and drift
away.
[G] Give me the beat boy
to free my soul.
[D] I wanna get lost in you rock and
roll [C] and drift away.
[Am] When my mind is [C] free, you know the melody
[D] just moves me.
[C] When I
feel it [Am] bloom, your guitars are comin'
through [D] to soothe me.
[C] Thank you for
the joy that you [G] give to me.
[C] I want
you to know I [G] believe in your song.
[C] Rhythm and rhyme and [G] harmony.
[Am] You help me in love.
[C] You make me
strong.
[G] Oh, give me the beat boy to free
my [D] soul.
I wanna get lost in you rock and [C] roll
and drift away.
[G] Give me the
beat boy to free my [D] soul.
I wanna get lost
in you rock and [C] roll and drift away.
[G] Give me the beat boy to free my [D] soul.
I wanna get lost in you rock and [C] roll and drift
away.
[G] Give me the beat boy to free
my [D] soul.
I wanna get lost in you rock and roll
[C] and drift away.
[A] [D]
[D] [C] [D]
[G]
[N] There you go, W.J. Drift Away.
