_ _ _ _ _ _ Okay, I'd like to play my version finger style guitar version of Maria Elena
and then after I'm done playing I'll quickly go through and describe some of the chord positions and
_ [Em] _ How I play it
_ [Ebm] _
[A] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ [E] _
_ _ [A] _ _ _ _ [E] _ [Ab] _
[Bm] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [E] _ _ _ [Bm] _ _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ _ _ [A] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _
_ [Bm] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[G] _ [E] _ _ _ [B] _ _ [A] _ [E] _
_ _ [B] _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
[Gbm] _ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _ _
[Bm] _ [A] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [E] _ [B] _ [Bm] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [Db] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[Abm] _ _ _ _ [Gbm] _ _ _ _
_ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _ _
[D] _ _ _ _ [Ab] _ [Dm] _ _ _
_ _ [D] _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [B] _
_ _ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [A] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
[G] You
Okay, so going through the positions quickly [Eb] first [A] of all we have the melody line _ _
[Gb] _ Okay, _ _ _ [A] and then we follow it with an a chord
_ And that's what the pinky up here on the a string _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
still on a [E] then
_ _ [B] _ [E] _
[Bm] _ to a B minor _ _
[Gbm] you
_ [Ab] Keep that going.
I switched up to a seventh fret B minor because the next _
melody line is easier to pull off up here _ and
It doesn't come out sounding so choppy and that
[Bb] _ _ [A] _ _ _ [B]
Okay, first string and then you go down to the second string 11th fret
_ _ [Am] _ _ [E] _
_ _ _ That's an e7 basically your _ d7 shape up two frets
_ _ _ _ _ and
Open E and the bass note played with the thumb
_ Second _ _ _ _ _ _ string first string and then I love this little augmented chord.
I'm not sure if it's in the original version, but I like it _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [D] _
[Ab] _ _ _ _ [E] _ again with the e and the bass
_ _ _ _ [A] _ _
back to a
_ That's _ _
[E] _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ an a chord.
All it is is the D [E] shape D [F] E [G] F [A] G a
_ With a in the bass played by the thumb _ _ _ [E] _ _
_ _ [A] _ _ _ back to our a with the pinky
_ Then right here we're all set to go _ _ _ _ _ that's to to Oh
_ _ [F] _ _
_ _ _ _ That's an F diminished
You call it an a flat diminished if you're not familiar with diminished chords look them up or something _
They're useful.
There are no kinds of songs but right there at the fourth fret or the third and fourth fret
_ _ [Bm] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ B minor chord
_ [A] _ Leaving out [Bm] the first string
_ _ See where my [B] I didn't strum that string _ _ _ and then [A] we have
[E] _
This _ is [Ab] basically like an E [E] chord _ _ _ Seventh _ well
_ It's a C shape with the root note under the pinky at the seventh fret _ and then I'm not playing that whole thing
I'm playing this _ _
one two three first three strings thumb on the bass _ and
then [B] bass note
[Abm] _
[Gbm] _ _ [E] _ _ Like [Bm] that _
[E] _ Okay, _ [B] _ _ [A] _ _
[E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[B] and then [Db] _ [D] _ _ [Ab] that's just second string
_ _ [A] _ _ _ _ A _ _ major seven
_ Again, I'm actually using just three strings _
_ plus the thumb on the bass note _
[Gbm] _ [A] _ _ _ _ _ Okay, then it kind of all starts over again
_ _ [Gbm] _ [A] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [E] _ _ [B] _ [Bm] _ _ _ _
_ Switch to the seventh fret B minor _
Then _ _ [Db] we have a C sharp seven.
It's a dominant seventh chord _ and this is at the
_ _ Fourth fret see it might be a little easier like that _
_ Seventh fret or fourth fret.
I'm sorry _
F _ _ [F] _ _ [Ab] _ _ _
_ _ [Gbm] _ sharp minor _ and you've got the high a under your pinky here _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Ab] _ [A] To _ an a7 chord Okay
_ Then we go.
[Bb] [A] It's starting the fourth fret.
_ _ [Bm] _ _ _ _
_ I think my friend Kelly
_ [Ab] For pointing this part out to [Bb] me
_ [D] _ _ _
Okay, and then we go
_ [Dm] _ _ _ _
_ That's a d7 shape _ _ up here _ at the sixth and seventh fret
Played with an open D string makes it a D minor chord
_ _ _ _ [D] _ [A] _
_ _ _ Here's our a again.
It's a D shape up here at the ninth and tenth fret _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ Okay
That's an a chord there.
_ Then we have _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ Under the [Db] pinky there second [Em] string second [A] string first string
[B] _
_ _ B seven chord _ and _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [E] _ That's our e7 chord that looks like a d7 and _ _ _ _ then I go _ _ _
_ Got my finger on the first fret there the third string
_ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _
_ _ and end on a
so I hope that you can hope you can [B] use that and _
Learn to play the song maybe come up with your own version.
That will be better.
Maybe so good luck with it _ _
