How To Play Maria Elena chords
Start Jamming...
Okay, I'd like to play my version finger style guitar version of Maria Elena
and then after I'm done playing I'll quickly go through and describe some of the chord positions and
[Em] How I play it
[Ebm]
[A] [A] [E]
[A] [E] [Ab]
[Bm]
[E] [Bm]
[E] [A]
[E]
[Bm]
[G] [E] [B] [A] [E]
[B] [A]
[Gbm] [A]
[Bm] [A]
[E] [B] [Bm]
[Db]
[Abm] [Gbm]
[A]
[D] [Ab] [Dm]
[D] [A]
[B]
[E]
[A]
[G] You
Okay, so going through the positions quickly [Eb] first [A] of all we have the melody line
[Gb] Okay, [A] and then we follow it with an a chord
And that's what the pinky up here on the a string
still on a [E] then
[B] [E]
[Bm] to a B minor
[Gbm] you
[Ab] Keep that going.
I switched up to a seventh fret B minor because the next
melody line is easier to pull off up here and
It doesn't come out sounding so choppy and that
[Bb] [A] [B]
Okay, first string and then you go down to the second string 11th fret
[Am] [E]
That's an e7 basically your d7 shape up two frets
and
Open E and the bass note played with the thumb
Second string first string and then I love this little augmented chord.
I'm not sure if it's in the original version, but I like it
[D]
[Ab] [E] again with the e and the bass
[A]
back to a
That's
[E] [A] an a chord.
All it is is the D [E] shape D [F] E [G] F [A] G a
With a in the bass played by the thumb [E]
[A] back to our a with the pinky
Then right here we're all set to go that's to to Oh
[F]
That's an F diminished
You call it an a flat diminished if you're not familiar with diminished chords look them up or something
They're useful.
There are no kinds of songs but right there at the fourth fret or the third and fourth fret
[Bm]
B minor chord
[A] Leaving out [Bm] the first string
See where my [B] I didn't strum that string and then [A] we have
[E]
This is [Ab] basically like an E [E] chord Seventh well
It's a C shape with the root note under the pinky at the seventh fret and then I'm not playing that whole thing
I'm playing this
one two three first three strings thumb on the bass and
then [B] bass note
[Abm]
[Gbm] [E] Like [Bm] that
[E] Okay, [B] [A]
[E]
[B] and then [Db] [D] [Ab] that's just second string
[A] A major seven
Again, I'm actually using just three strings
plus the thumb on the bass note
[Gbm] [A] Okay, then it kind of all starts over again
[Gbm] [A]
[E] [B] [Bm]
Switch to the seventh fret B minor
Then [Db] we have a C sharp seven.
It's a dominant seventh chord and this is at the
Fourth fret see it might be a little easier like that
Seventh fret or fourth fret.
I'm sorry
F [F] [Ab]
[Gbm] sharp minor and you've got the high a under your pinky here
[Ab] [A] To an a7 chord Okay
Then we go.
[Bb] [A] It's starting the fourth fret.
[Bm]
I think my friend Kelly
[Ab] For pointing this part out to [Bb] me
[D]
Okay, and then we go
[Dm]
That's a d7 shape up here at the sixth and seventh fret
Played with an open D string makes it a D minor chord
[D] [A]
Here's our a again.
It's a D shape up here at the ninth and tenth fret
Okay
That's an a chord there.
Then we have
Under the [Db] pinky there second [Em] string second [A] string first string
[B]
B seven chord and
[E] That's our e7 chord that looks like a d7 and then I go
Got my finger on the first fret there the third string
[A]
and end on a
so I hope that you can hope you can [B] use that and
Learn to play the song maybe come up with your own version.
That will be better.
Maybe so good luck with it
