How to play "One Love" by Bob Marley - 4-Chord Song chords
Start Jamming...
Hey, James here from good guitarist calm with another five-minute guitar lesson for you guys
In this lesson, we're gonna go over one love by Bob Marley and that's on the album Exodus
[G#] Which is the album that has pretty much a ton of hits on it
So it's definitely [E] worth listening to the whole album pretty awesome
Anyways, um, if you want to [N] navigate through this video say practice along and redo sections
There's a table of contents down below so that'll help you out with that.
Also.
We have a new ebook available and
That's free to all of our subscribers.
There's a link down below for that, too
It's really good for just getting all the fundamentals and all the strumming stuff down, you know, all the chord shapes
We really go in depth on everything.
So it's worth checking out.
Otherwise, don't forget to subscribe [A] and here we go
here are the chords we'll be using in this song a
[G] [D]
D [E] II and
F sharp [F#m] minor
[D#] Let's try those chords from the verse using down strokes
One two, three four
[A]
[F#m] [D]
[A]
[F#m] [D]
[A]
[F#m] [D]
[A]
[F#m] [D]
[A]
the strumming pattern goes down down down down
[E] Notice that everyone is on an offbeat.
It's all in the ends
So when we're counting along it would be one and two and three and four and now
Let's try that over the chords from the verse
one two [G#] three four
[A] So
[F#] [D]
[A]
[F#m] [D] [E]
[A]
[F#m] [D]
[A]
[F#] [D] [E]
[A]
in reggae music the guitar player is often playing just the upbeats one and two
So [F#] he's playing all the ends and not necessarily any of the downbeats and if you're playing not a single downbeat
It's really hard to tell where beat one is.
Usually the rest of the band is doing it
But in this case, we're just playing learning the guitar part.
So we have to kind of provide that ourselves
So what I would recommend doing is muting on the downbeats and I'll show you what I mean
so for instance one two, three four, [C] [A] I
Really emphasized it there, but you get the point on beat one.
I smacked the guitar with my hand
I'm muting the strings and you can be as subtle or as aggressive as you want depending on how much percussion you want
So let's just hear that.
I'll do it gently now
[G] Now I'll do it a bit more aggressively
[A]
So you can see that I'm providing that beat to work off of or else you just kind of feel lost in the rhythm
The chorus goes like this
So
[E]
[D] [A] [E]
[A]
[D] [A] [E]
[D] [A]
[E]
[F#] let's try that together now
one two three
four
