Chords for How To Play Speed Of Sound By Coldplay On Guitar

Coldplay song called Speed of Sound.
This one is a little more complicated.
I wouldn't
recommend it for if you're just starting out, but if you've got a couple songs under your
belt and you're feeling pretty good with your right hand with the speed that you can strum
_ and your left hand is good with a little more difficult chords, then I would definitely
try this one out.
I think it would be good for you.
But for beginners, _ _ not [A#] so much.
It's
a little bit fast _ and the chords can get just a touch hairy.
Just a couple bar chords, but
work up to it.
_ So let's [A] start in.
We're going to start with our A major, which sometimes
I like to bar it like this.
_ Or you can play it like that or like that.
So the verse, _ _ A
[E] major, E minor, _ _ hang out [A] there, D [D] major. _ _ _
[A] So _ _ _ [E] _ _ _
[Em] _ _ _ _ [D] _ _ _ _
[A] _ _ _ _ [Em] E minor, _ stay on E minor, _ [D] D.
That's the
whole verse.
[A] _ _ _ _ [Em] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [D] _ _ _ _ _
So now [G] we're going into the pre-chorus.
Still not so bad.
We've got G, G major, [A] A, _
and [Bm] we've got the B minor, which again, it can be a little bit [Em] tricky plus the song is
kind of fast.
[G] So you want to make sure that you really have [Bm] that happening before you
start on this one.
You can do the little B minor, but [A] again, this is not an easy shape
to get to from A [Bm] to the B minor.
[A] So [D] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
[Bm] _ _ _ stay on B minor, [D] G, 1, 2, 3, [A] 4, A. _ _
[Bm] You only play it
twice.
Now we're going into the chorus, and this is the last section that you need to
know.
[F] So again, it's a little bit above a beginner level, [B] but not too much because this
[G] is the only other section.
There's only three.
So we've got G, _ _ [Bm] B minor again, _ [D] _ D, _
[G] _ G, do that
again, G, _ [Bm] _ _ B minor.
Now, [F#m] F sharp minor, which we've talked about in some other videos. _
[E] It's
a [F#] little bit tricky, but I really think you should learn it because it sounds [F#m] _ nice.
So
you can do it this way.
_ [E] _ [F#m] You can do it this way, _ _ this way.
Oh, you can't see that, can
you?
There.
You can do it that way.
So it [A] looks just like an A.
Here's your A.
Here's
your F sharp minor.
That's [B] a lot easier, but you really [F#m] want that big, full thickness of
that chord.

[E] Went off on a little tangent.
Let's start on the [D] chorus again.
G, _ _ [Bm] B minor, _ _
[D] _ _ D, [G] G. _
Stay on the G, _ _ [Bm] B minor, _ _
[F#m] F sharp minor.

_ _ _ _ [Bm] _ _ _ _
[D] _ _ _ _ _ _ Stay [G] on the G, 3, [Bm] 4, B minor, _ _
[F#m] F sharp minor.

So let's go over everything one more time because this is really simple and I'm just
trying [G#] to eat time because [A] I like to talk.

Let's move on to the pre-chorus.

Let's move on to the chorus.

Three [C] sections.
Verse, [D#] pre-chorus, chorus.
Really focus on the B minor and the
F sharp minor because you're going to see those everywhere with capos and without.
This
song doesn't have a capo on it, but you just see those chords all over the place.
So the
longer you avoid them, the longer you have to wait to play super [A#] cool stuff.
So just
get them.
I know bar chords are a pain and they hurt.
Once you have them, you have them.
So get that B minor, get that F sharp minor, and then you can move those all over the place
on the neck.
It's so, so worth it.
So three sections.
