Hi, this is Terry Gold and a little over a year ago
I recorded a song posted it to YouTube
The only reason I did it was it was too big to email and I wanted to share it with my son Christopher
[A]
well here we are now and
The videos had almost 10,000 views and I'm getting a lot of [G] email from people saying they'd like to see a lesson on it
Well, I'm not a teacher or even that great of a guitarist and that was just something I was playing around with
So but I'm happy to help and I'll show you the elements of it
And then you should put it together in a way that sounds good to you
Because frankly I couldn't play it again exactly [G#] the way it is in the video if I tried
[N] But I'll show you some of the pieces of it and then you can go play with it.
I am finger [D] picking and
I'm tuned in dadgad [G] and
D a D G a D.
There's plenty of YouTube videos out there help you get tuned [D] up
It's a very pretty tuning and make something simpler
For instance, that's a D
Really nice sound
Well, I was just playing around one day
And I wanted to make it sound a little bluesy
So I use my third finger here to do this
[Dm] I'm [Am] almost pulling that string [Dm] down
If I [F#] get carried away, I can get some fret [E] buzz and a little bit of [Dm] twang
Because I'm actually pulling it down and letting it go
Gives [G] it that kind of [D] bluesy sound so that the tune went something like this
Now
[G] [C]
[G]
[D]
[G#] I'm not actually getting [D] that very well.
I have to play with it a little bit
basic form is
That's my first chord and then I move [C] up to [D] here
So I've got my first finger on the third string [A] second fret
my [Bm] second finger on the fifth [C] string third fret and
[G] My third finger on the second string third fret and I get [C] this [D] Okay
[C]
And if I'm playing right I can get my little finger in there to still do the bluesy pull-off thing
[Dm] just
[C]
[D] take some [C] practice and
[F] [D]
then [E] the third chord that I use a lot is I just move [G] to the second fret and
lift up my index finger, [Bm] so
[G] second [Em] finger
fifth string second fret third finger
second [B] string second fret
[G] and again, I'll use my little finger on [Dm] that first string [G] third fret and
[D] maybe the second string [B] third fret [G]
and
Then back to the [Dm] beginning and
[C]
[G]
[D]
[A] you can do some things with the [E] bass too [D] like this
All
[C] [D] I'm doing there is catching with my thumb the fourth string fourth fret first open
And I just do a bit of a roll and
then fourth fret fourth string
Notice the pull-off there and then fifth fret fifth [A] string
Whoops [Fm] fourth fret how [D] about that?
Yeah, [C] fourth fret [A]
[D] back [C]
[D] [G] [C] to my course
[G]
[D]
and you know don't be afraid to
move out of the finger picking and give it a strum occasionally [F] and
[Am] Sometimes I was even reaching down here to the fifth fret
[Dm]
I think I was trying [G#] to practice my little finger dexterity as [Gm] much as [Dm] anything
Okay,
[G] [C]
[G]
[D]
so [F#] hopefully that gives you enough of the pieces to put it together [C#] and maybe come up with something different
certainly come [E] up with something better [D] and
Post your own video
[G] Thanks for all the views and
