And today I'm going to show you how to play in the middle _ by Jimmy Eat World.
Sorry, the name escaped me there for a second.
I'm going to show you this.
It's super easy, super quick.
There's three chords.
There's two chord progressions.
The strumming couldn't be easier.
And people love this song.
And it's an uplifting song.
It's absolutely fun to do.
Well, I'm showing you on the acoustic today.
You can do the same exact thing on the electric.
It's not going to be that much different.
Except you're going to play power chords.
And I go over that in another video.
So right now we're just going to do an acoustic version of it.

[D] And [Ab] use those instead of these [D] open chords.
So the chords we're going to be playing today are [A] D, [G] A, and G.
These are [Bb] three chords out of what I call the nine essential chords that every guitar
player in the history of ever needs to know.
[Db] They're the first nine chords you need to know.
And you can play millions of songs with it.

The [G] D, the A, and the G.
If you know them, you're [D] good to go.
Okay, so we're counting this song like 1, 2, 3, 4.
1, [A] 2, 3, 4.
1, 2, 3, 4.
1, 2, 3, 4.
[F] And if we're counting that way, then [Em] the chord progression every single time except for the
chorus [D] is going to be D, D, [A] A, [G] A, G, G, [D] D, D.

All right, so D, D, [A] [G] A, A, G, G, [D] and D, D.
Okay.
A new girl named D, D also.
_ She wasn't so cute.
She was very nice though.
Okay, so we got those chords, D, D, A, A, G, G, and D, D, right?
And so the strumming rhythm, we can effectively go 1, 2, 3, and 4 and super easy strum.
Again, 1, 2.
[A] We're going to emphasize that 2.
[D] 1, 2, 3, and 4.
And 1, 2, 3, and [A] 4.
And 1, 2, 3, and 4.
And 1, 2.
If you [G] have problems with strumming, this thing I'm going over right now is in that
first 30 lessons and I show you and I give you the exercises and everything.
So [F] if you have trouble with it, just refer to that and I'll go over it in detail [D] with
you how to do the strumming.
So, okay, so we got 1, 2, 3, and 4.
And 1, 2, 3, and [A] 4.

So what I'm doing there is I'm muting just on the one.
So I'm going 1, 2, 3, and 4, 1, 2, 3, and 4, 1, 2, 3, and 4.
[E] You know this part of the song.
[N] I don't have to tell you about it.
You know, you're smart.
So that's it.
And then there's the _ solo section, which is, again, two measures of everything is what we're doing.
And it goes, I'm reading my cheat sheet here, two measures of A, two measures of D, two
measures of A, two measures of D, two measures of G, two measures of D, four measures of
A.
But you can write it down if you want, but it's really easy.
You're just going to [A] go 1, 2, 3, and 4, 1, 2, [D] 3, and 4, 1, 2, 3, and 4, 1, 2, 3, [A] and
4, 1, 2, 3, and 4, 1, 2, [D] 3, and 4, 1, 2, 3, and 4, 1, 2, 3, and 4, 1, 2, 3.
