Start Jamming...
3, 2, 1.
It's KF Mayday 2017 from the Monster Energy Drink broadcast booth at Keno Stadium.
It's Dino live with highly suspect.
Hey!
Hello!
[A] Can we harmonize a little bit?
[G] Hello!
[A] That was beautiful.
That was good.
Show's over, folks.
Yeah.
Let's make a record.
What do you say?
Hey, I finally kind of caught on to you guys a few years ago when I first started working at the radio station.
I was kind of learning the [D] new music on the station and [B] everything kind of sounded the same.
But when I heard you [F] guys, I was like, [A] whoa!
You know, it just kind of caught me, turned my head.
It's nice to hear, man.
Yeah.
[C] And when [A] you guys were first getting together, was that something [C#] that you guys heard too when you [B] first played for the first time together?
Yeah, I [A#] felt that.
I didn't feel that at all.
No?
Just another band?
Yeah.
Everything else, I was like, ah, geez.
[A#m] Guys with guitars and drums.
Let's do it for 10 years.
Yeah.
But now [C] I do notice a difference.
You do?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Because now for you guys personally, what bands have done that for you?
Like when you stopped [Fm] and dead in your tracks when you're driving down the road listening [C] to the radio,
what are the bands for you that have kind [B] of just turned your head and made you stop right where you were?
You know, actually, have you heard of Rival Sons?
Rival Sons?
Yeah.
That happened to me like a [D] month ago.
I was listening to Spotify and a song came on and I was like, who the is this? You're [C] right.
Yeah.
And it was them.
So good on you, [A] Rival Sons.
Nice work.
How about you, Rich?
Wolf Alice.
Okay.
Wolf Alice.
Yeah, they're great.
They [C] really caught me in my tracks for sure.
And how about you, Ryan?
I think back in the day was the Stone Age.
Oh, yeah.
They've always done it for me.
Okay.
Cool.
Cool.
Well, welcome back to Tucson.
This is your second KFMA Day.
How's it been going so far on the road for you guys?
Well, this is actually the kickoff to the North American tour.
This is day one.
Okay.
So we were over in Europe.
It was amazing.
In the UK, that was great.
But yeah, [D] just kicking it off right here in Tucson.
All right.
Tucson, [B] we're busting the [N] cherry here.
Yeah, we're going to dust off the cobwebs, make a lot of mistakes.
Hopefully, everybody will be drunk by then.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, by 4.30?
Sure, why not?
So the new album, The Boy Who Died Wolf, what does that title mean?
Well, it means a lot of things, but obviously, first and foremost, it's a play on words to the boy who cried wolf, a wonderful fable.
Right.
It's [E] basically like, you know, I'm afraid that I'll get to the end of my [G#] life without finding [C#] true love,
that everyone will just kind of think I'm a joker.
You know what I mean?
Right.
Yeah, so it's like if [C#m]
[C#] you—yeah, I said it.
So be real.
Be real.
Stay [C#] real.
Right.
Okay.
So now [B] the video for [C#] this song, for the single, which is [D] doing very well at the station, My Name Is [C#] Human,
came out last month, and [G] it's another one [C#] of the highly cinematic, highly suspect videos in the long [G#] line that you've had.
Now, [B]
what is the [G#] deal with the robots, and [E] what do you [B] guys think about [E] robot-human interaction?
Transhumanism?
I think that it's already happened.
I think that we're already [C] androids, and I think we just don't know it.
I think nanotechnology's already crept into our system, because I can't explain for why 20,000 years,
humanity [C#] had information traveling at one speed, [E] and now [G#] I can get a [G] message to Japan and back in three seconds.
[G#] Right.
So I think [C#] we've already evolved, and we just haven't realized it yet, but our name is human.
[C#] Still human, but—
Yeah, and we're all in this together, so we've got a band together.
But first and foremost, it's whatever you want it [G#m] to mean.
It's for you.
[C#] So what will be the next [N] single from A Boy Who Died Well?
I believe it will be Little One, and we just shot the video for it, and it's going to be so awesome.
We're excited.
Now, with the [C#m] videos, how much do you guys have as far as input into the overall concepts?
[C#] All of it.
All of it.
It all comes from you?
Yeah, and in this one, we get a [G#]
nice—they weren't in the last video, so now we're all in it on this one.
It's fun.
It's another movie.
Okay.
You guys get top billing this time, not Johnny.
Right.
Top billing?
[B] Yes.
[C#] It's the Meyer twins and then [E] Johnny Stamos.
Yeah, we're the stars.
Yeah, totally.
[B] All right, guys.
Well, we're so [G#] glad you were able to come back to Tucson again for your [E] second KFMA Day.
Did you guys have fun last [C#] year at least?
Oh, yeah.
All right.
That's why we're back.
[E] Exactly.
[G#] Well, all right.
Well, Tucson's ready for you.
Thanks for coming.
Thank you.
Yeah.
We're dropping drinks already.
[C#] Maybe we'll catch you next [C#m] year.
All right, yeah.
2018, what do you got going on?
Hopefully we'll be here.
We love it.
All right, everybody.
Highly suspect [N] on Rockwood at 2.1.
Cool.
I killed that interview.
You did.
You nailed it.
I tried to work you in there, man.
Yeah, it's cool.
