Hello guys, this is Amos from Music It In.
Today's lesson I'm going to teach you how to play Padam by [C] Kanye Monáe on the piano.
I'll give you a preview before we start learning.
It goes like this. _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Fm] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ _
_ [Db] _ _ _ _ [C] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Fm] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ _
_ [Db] _ _ _ [C] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [N] Alright, let's get right into it.
So melody and chords, that's the foundation and afterwards you can add your own improvisations and decoration patterns to make your own version.
Alright, let's get right into it.
So first part goes like this.
There's four parts to it so it's easier to learn.
So first part Ryan starts on the G, E [C] up here.
So middle C is here for reference, G, C, E is where we start.
E, G, E, G, E, G, F, E, F, G.
That's it for the right hand for the first part.
Let's learn it once again.
So it goes E, G, E, G, E, G, F, E, F, G.
That's it for the right hand.
Left hand we have C major as the chord which is C, E, G. _
With that C major in mind, it goes like this.
So right hand starts, G and C major.
_ Just _ _ _ _ like that.
Alright, let's learn it once again.
So it goes.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Moving on to the second part, right hand continues.
It goes E, G, E, G, E, [F] G, F, [Gm] E, F, G, Bb.
So it's pretty much the same thing as the first part but just with an extra Bb at the end.
Including [C] the left hand chord is also C major so it's the same. _ _ _ _ _
_ Add a Bb at the end.
Alright, so that's the second part for the _ [E] song.
So back to back, the two parts we've learned so far will play like this so you can see the similarities and differences.
Check it [C] out.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[Eb] Moving on to the third part, right hand [Ab] continues.
It goes Ab, G, Ab, G, Ab, G, F, G, Ab. _
_ _ That's it for the right hand, let's learn it again.
So it goes Ab, G, Ab, G, Ab, [Fm] G, F, G, Ab.
That's it for the right hand.
Left hand we have F minor which is F, Ab, C.
_ With that F minor in mind, it goes like this.
So just Ab and F minor together. _ _
_ _ _ _ _ Like that.
_ _ Just like that.
So just together. _ _
_ _ _ _ That's it.
So back to back, the three parts we've learned so far will play like [C] this. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [E] _ [Fm] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ Alright, awesome.
Now moving on to the fourth and last part, right hand continues.
[Ab] It goes G, Ab, G, Ab, G, Ab, up to C, [F] down to F, [Db] up to Bb.
That's it for the fourth part for the right hand.
[Ab] Let's learn it again.
It goes G, Ab, G, Ab, G, [Fm] Ab, up to C, down to [Bbm] F, up to [Bb] Bb.
That's it for the right hand, okay?
[Ab] Left hand we have two chords there.
Ab major which is Ab, C, Eb.
And then [Db] Db major.
Db, F, Ab.
So with these [Ab] two chords in mind, Ab major [Db] and Db major, the two of them together goes like this.
So right hand starts on [Ab] the G, Ab and _ _ _ Db _ [Db] major together. _ _
_ Like [Ab] that.
Okay, let's learn it again.
Together, _
_ _ [Db] together. _ _ _
Alright, just like that.
_ Alright, [C] so back to back, all four parts of this lesson will be played like this. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Fm] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ _
_ [Db] _ _ _ [C] And just repeat. _
_ _ _ _ _ _ Etc.
Okay?
So once you get the melody and chords of this all good, [Eb] you can start to add your own [Db] improvisations and decoration patterns into it to [C] make your own version.
Alright, so left hand you can do an octave bass and arpeggios. _ _ _
_ Rhythmic patterns. _ _ _ _
_ [Fm] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [Ab] _ _ _ _ [Db] _ _ _
That kind of thing.
And right hand you can harmonize on the chords to make it thicker in [C] texture to play around like. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [Fm] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [Ab] _ _ _ _ [Db] _ _ _
_ [C] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Alright, yeah, just like that.
Play around with it.
Alright, [N] so yeah.
Hope you enjoyed this lesson by the way.
