[G] Hey, this is Benjamin Hastings from Hillsong Worship, and today we're going to be [C] talking
about the [G] treasure of the cross, and its immense value in [Em] comparison to all else.
You know, Paul talks about this in [D] Philippians 3, this is from the message.
The very credentials these people [Em] are waving around, as something special, I'm tearing
up and throwing out in the trash, [G] along with everything else I used to take credit for.
And why?
Because [D] of Christ.
Yes, [G] all the things I once thought were so important are gone from my life.
Compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ [C] Jesus as my master, first hand, [G] everything
I once thought I [D] had going for me is insignificant.
[Em] And you know, Paul goes on to say, [C] I've dumped it all in the trash [G] so that I can embrace
[D] Christ and be embraced by him.
[G] And you know, for the Philippian people here, [C] the issue was that they were [G] holding their
Jewish heritage just that little [D] closely.
It was that little bit too important [Em] to them.
Well, I wonder for us, [C] what is it that's sitting on the [G] mantelpiece of our heart?
What trophies or treasures [D] do we have that are just taking up that little bit [G] too much
room?
In the song, Crimes, we kind of deal with some of these concepts.
And it's all purpose to remind us that, you know, in light of the cross, in light of everything
that Jesus has done for us, everything else [C] just peels in [G] comparison.
Even the greatest of our crimes, [Em] even the grandest trophies of our merits are really
worthless [D] in comparison to the wealth that's in the cross.
