_ _ _ _ Hi, welcome to my video tutorial on tremolo.
My name is Paolo Gemignani and I teach guitar here in Vorarlberg, a small region of Austria.
The tutorial that you will see today will show you how to play the PAMI tremolo,
where P stands for Thumb, A stands for Ring Finger, M stands for Middle Finger and E stands for Index.
We'll go right away into the video clip and I'll come back to you later to say goodbye.
A very important aspect of playing a successful tremolo is the [E] thumb. _ _
_ _ After the thumb has played the 6th string, it leans against the 5th string, like this. _
_ _ _ _ _ _
_ Notice the joint.
It's not like this, _ but like this.
_ _ _ Another aspect is placing your army fingers not under the thumb, but slightly _ behind.
_ _ [C#] _ Not under, but slightly behind. _
_ _ [G#] Notice that [C#] the ring finger is _ locked _ [C#m] onto the 1st string. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [C] The middle finger and index finger are right close to it. _
So that when the thumb has finished playing, _
[E] _ the ring finger strikes also,
_ _ _ followed by the middle finger and the index, like this.
_ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [C#] _ _
_ _ [D#] Another aspect [C#]
[E] that you need [C] to be very careful about is the position of your hand.
Notice how every joint of the fingers is bended,
_ [C#] and that the hand shape would [N] be like when you have an egg in your hand
and the shape around it follows the curve of the egg, like this, curved.
Now [G#] let's try to put some more notes into this played by the thumb.
Let's play the E minor chord and the thumb [E] would play the 6th, leaning on the 5th,
the 4th, leaning on the [Em] 3rd, and the 3rd, not leaning at all. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [C#] _ _
Between every stroke of the thumb, you play the army fingers, [E] like this.
_ _ _ [Em] _ _ _
_ _ _ [E] _ _ _
[Em] _ _ _ [E] _ _ [Em] _
_ _ _ _ [C#] _ _
_ Now let's try to add some chords into this _ exercise.
To the E minor we add the D, the C and the B7.
With the E minor chord, [C] the thumb [E] plays the 6th, the 4th and [Em] the 3rd.
[E] _ _ [C#m] On the D chord, the thumb plays the 4th, [D] _
_ the 3rd and the 2nd. _
[C] On the C chord, it plays the 5th, the 4th and the 3rd.
On [B] the B7, the 5th, the 4th and [A] the 3rd, _ like [Em] this. _
_ _ _ _ _ [D] _
_ _ _ _ _ [C] _
_ _ _ _ _ [B] _
_ _ _ _ _ _
[C#m] _ _ _ _ Now we'll add [C] the army fingers between each stroke of the thumb, [E] like this. _ _ _
[Em] _ Let's _ _ _
_ [D] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [C] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _
[B] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [Em] _ [E] _ _ _
_ _ [C#] _ _ see now how it sounds as we [E] play it a bit faster.
[Em] _ _
[D] _ _ _ [C] _ _ _
[B] _ _ _ [E] _ [Em] _ _
_ [D] _ _ [C] _ _ _
[B] _ _ _ [E] _ [Em] _ _
_ [D] _ _ [C] _ _ _
_ [B] _ _ [E] _ [Em] Hi!
[D] _ _ _ [C] _ _ _
[B] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _
_ _ _ [C#] _ _
So I hope that [N] you have enjoyed this short video.
I hope that you have enjoyed your tutorial [A#] on tremolo that we have just filmed
and that you learn to play it skillfully.
I see you next time on the next lesson.
Bye bye for now. _
