Hey everybody, I'm Josh Purdue from Austin, Texas I
Just wanted to make a quick little video and talk about the bass part on my babe by little Walter
Usually what happens when this is played a bass player will kind of double up
One of the guitar parts, you [F] know
[A] [Bb]
[F] Specifically specifically that one
[A]
[B] So [F] [A] [Bb] [B] [N] when the bass player does that the same thing as a guitar player makes it a very modern sounding
Type song the songs from the 50s.
It's done by Willie Dixon a lot of those blues bass players
Weren't that busy?
They were playing on uprights for the most part and they were doing you know
Very few notes as little as I can you know
So when
Again, a lot of this stuff that I'm showing you is not note for note
The Willie Dixon part is very very hard to hear
There's some notes that are just I don't even hear
No matter how much I EQ it
So I'm just kind of like taking a guess on some of these notes
But more or less this is kind of what he's doing
And if you play it like [A] this says that you know, you're the bass player and you played it like this
It makes the whole song come alive and it just makes it sound good because you have three two guitar parts [Fm] one guitars going
[Bb] [Ab] Something [A]
like that
other [F] guitar players [A] going
[Bb]
[B] [F] Something [A] like that and then the bass player is doing something like let's see
[F]
[E] [F] And [G] [F]
[E] [F] [G] [F]
[E] [F] [G] [C] [G]
[C] [Bb] [G] [Dm] [Am]
[Bb] [A]
[F] you [C]
[F] [E] [F]
know something like that
[Bb]
I don't even hear him
When everybody stops on the four, [F] I don't hear him play the four.
I hear him play the ones
You know, it's kind of weird
[A] But anyways, I'll play it one more time
Kind [F] of slow it like
[C]
[E] [F] [G] [F]
[E] [F] [G] [F]
[C] [E] [F] [G] [C]
[G] [B] [C] [Bb] [A]
[G] [F] [D] [C] [A] [F] [A]
[G] [C] [Bb] [Eb] [B]
[F] Something [E]
[F] [G] [F] [E]
[Dm] [Am] [F]
[Am] like that.
I hope that helps give it a try on the next gig that you play my babe and you'll be surprised
How it sounds it sounds really [Bb] cool
