[A] This is [G] Mystery Man from [A] LearnGospelMusic.com.
Today I'm going to show you [B] how to play Lord I Lift Your Name On High.
[E] I'm going to start it out simple for the [A] beginner and I'm going to try to [F] build the song up to show you how to add to [G] the song.
The first thing you're going to need to know [C#] is your I chord, Bb major in the key of Bb, [F#] Gb major, [G#] the IV chord, and Ab major, the V chord.
Now you're going to want to learn those chords in every key so you'll be able to play this song in every key.
This is a good starting point for the I-IV-V progression.
I'm also going to add the III-VI-II-V-I [C#] progression, III-VI [A#]-II-V-I.
I'm going to make a slight [N] change to that progression.
So here we go.
[C#] It starts out,
[F#] Lord I lift your [G#] name on high
[C#] [F#] Lord I love to sing [G#] your praises
I'm [C#] [F#] so [G#] glad you're in my life
[C#]
[F#] I'm so glad you [G#] came to save this city
[C#]
[F#] You came from [G#] heaven to earth to show [C#] the way
[F#] From the earth [G#] to the cross my debt [C#] to pay
[F#] From the cross [G#] to the grave, [F] from the grave [A#m] to the sky
Lord [D#m] I lift [G#] your name
[C#] Normally I would play these chords [B] with the [A] right hand position, but I'm playing it this way so it's easier for you to see.
[G#] So this time I play it through.
[E] I'm going to add a little melody [C#m] to it.
And also you're going to want to know your [D#] inversions [A#] of your major chords [G] in every key.
Especially in [G#] the key that we're learning, D-flat.
[N] So I'm going to add a little melody to build up the [C#] song.
[F#] [G#]
[C#] [F#] [G#]
[C#] [F#] [G#]
[C#] [F#] [G#]
[C#] [F#]
[G#] [F#] [G#] [C#]
[F#] [G#] [F#] As [G#]
[C#] [F#] [G#] [F]
[A#m] [D#m] [G#] [C#]
you can see I played the song.
I'm going to play it a little faster.
This time I'm [G#] going to add in my left hand the root and the fifth of the I chord, [F#] the IV [G#] chord, and the V [C#] chord.
So you have D-flat, A-flat major, a D-flat major chord, I'm sorry.
[G#m] You're going to just use the root and fifth, the D-flat, A-flat [F#] note.
On the IV chord, G-flat major, you're going to use a G-flat and a [G#m] D-flat.
On the V chord, you're going to use A-flat and an E-flat.
[D#] When you [F] go to the III, you're going to use F and [A#] C.
On the VI, D-flat and [D#] F.
On the II, E-flat, D-flat.
[A#m] Okay.
One other [Gm] note you want to make a note of.
On the III, [Fm] III is normally [F] minor, but in the song it's major.
So I play the F major chord.
So [C#] here we go.
[F#] [G#] [F#] [G#] [C#]
[F#] [G#] [F#] [G#] [C#]
[F#] [G#] [F#] [G#] [C#]
