Hey guys this tutorial must teach one of my favorite songs.
It's great for beginners
[G] Let me play through it and then I'll teach you how to play it goes up
[C] Lord I lift your [D] name on high
[C] [G] Lord [C] I love to sing your [D] [C] praises
[G] I'm [C] so glad you're in [D] my [C] life
I'm so glad you [D] came to save [C] us
[G] [C] You came from [D] heaven and earth [C] to show the way
from the [D] earth to the cross [C] my debt
To [G] pay [C] from the cross to the [D] grave [Em] from the grave [C] to the sky
[D] We lift your name [G] on [C] high
[D] [C]
So if you're just beginning
As you can see I have the C notes marked with a post-it note
I suggest doing that if you're starting out mark [Ab] each C note find the two black keys go one to the left
[C]
And there's your C notes
Well, if you're just beginning start with just the right hand [G] and learn
The G chord here's the G note and play every other note with your first finger
I mean thumb first finger and middle finger
There's your G note G
B and D every other note then you go to a C [C] note C
every other note
So C and every other white key for a D
[Dm] Go a D every other white key with this first finger [D] take up a half step to the F sharp
So you're playing a D and F sharp
and an A
So [Bm] first thing you're gonna work on is just [G] the right hand
[C] Lord I lift your [D] name on [C] high
So two beats [G] per chord with just the right hand
[C] Lord I love to sing [D] your praises
[C]
Once you get comfortable with that go with your left hand just the bass notes.
[G] So for a G you'd play two G's an octave apart
[C] Lord I lift your name on high
So [G] you're playing two beats per chord and a G two [C] G's C two C's
[D] D two D's
So then you just do the [G] whole song
[C] Lord I lift your [D] name on high
[C] Lord I love to sing your praises
Then as you get more advanced
[G] Mix the right hand with the left hand what you'll do is for a G play your two bass notes left hand your G chord right hand
And then just your right hand.
So it's everything just the right hand goes
Lord I lift [C] your name on [D] high
[C] I like to sing [G] G
[C] Lord I love to sing your [D] praises
[C] I'm [G] [C] so glad you're in [D] my life
[C] [G]
[C] I'm so glad you came [D] to save [C] us
[G]
[C] You came from heaven [D] to earth to [C] show the [G] way
[C] from the earth through [D] the cross my
[C] debt to [G] pay
[C] from the cross to [D] the grave
From the on the second grave you'll play E minor E minor is played just like the G C
[Em] Except it starts with E in every other note.
There's your E minor and of course you play two E's down here
The grave [C] to the sky [D] we lift your [G] name on high
[C]
Great [D] [C]
[G] song for beginners.
