Back to do a lesson for Maliguena.
I wanted to go over the way
Keith played it in Two Sides to Every Story.
It's an interview that came out I
think it was last year Guitar Moves with Keith Richards and during the interview
he picks up an acoustic and starts showing the guy how he learned, his
grandfather taught him Maliguena.
It's one of the first songs he learned and
he's playing it on an old Martin and the first time he the first time he picks
through the notes [Em] it's um [F]
you're gonna do just the just the single [D] notes [C] so
[A] [C] [Bm]
[Fm] [E]
to
do that you're gonna be on the high E string start there open [G] [F] three one open
one come to [G] the B open [Am] [B] open [C] G
[A] string two two one [B] two open B [C] [G] first open [C] [B]
open
[A] [Ab]
[F]
one [E] read two on the D okay so that's the first [Em] time [F] [Bm] [C] [A]
[G] [E] second
[N] time he's gonna do
something like this [F]
so [D] [C]
[E] [Am]
[Bm] [C] [E]
[A] [E]
[N] the second time what he's doing is he's he's playing the
same notes but he's picking two strings at once sometimes like the notes on the
[Ab] high E would be the same [Am] [F] when he comes to the B he's gonna be picking the notes
on the B [E] string as well as the hot open high E [C] and
[E]
then when he's coming to the
G string he's gonna be picking the G and the the notes on the on the G string and
the open B string alright [D] [G]
[E]
[N] so did you catch that the notes on the high E
[Em] would be the same [F] who
[Dm] come to the B it's you're plucking the B and the high
E strings [C] then
[N] the G and the B [Abm] strings [Dm]
[Am] back to the B and high E [E] [Ab] [E] then [Abm]
[A] [F] two [E] on the
[F] [Dbm]
[D] D [B] open read two on the A [A] open [G] three [F]
[E] open E I
[F]
[B]
actually [E] learned this song a long time
ago
[Am] differently I learned it from watching Esteban it was like an [E] instructional video
where he was playing Malaguena and he was just going from E to like [Am] a minor [C] and [G]
[C] [E]
then
he would [F] go like to an F
[E] and then [C] there's the way Roy Clark [E] plays it [F]
[E] [F]
I can't even like
can't even play close to the way Roy Clark plays it but [E]
[F]
[E]
[N] anyway I just wanted to go over
the way Keith played that and I hope that this helps you [F] [Bm] [C]
