[G] [E] The [Eb] Invited to Crossroads is like a full circle moment,
because I used to watch the 2006 one on DVD all the time.
It just feels, I feel really blessed to be here.
Paying tribute to some of my favorite blues legends,
like Sun House and Willie Dixon and Muddy Waters,
and showcasing some new material of mine,
and a little older material as well.
This is the prototype of my 1962 Gibson ES-345 in Cherry Rip,
with a sideways vibrola.
And my grandfather, that's what he played his whole life.
And he took the vibrola off, like mid-70s.
But I've had it restored.
Our friends at Gibson were nice enough to do that for me.
When we built the replica, they really spent a lot of time
with that guitar, and really nailed the neck profile.
So this is something that I'm really pleased
to share with people.
So that's the guitar.
And I put a little extra into mine.
That's a tattoo of mine that I thought
would look cool on a truss rod cover.
And I always played through a Super Reverb.
That's what my granddad always played through.
He had the same rig for like 50 years.
So it had to be right in some way.
Gibson guitars and Fender amps just go well.
Ham and cheese, you know?
I've also got an orange head that I'm using.
It's a 50-watt head with 6L6 tubes in it.
I believe I got a 212 cabinet out there with it.
And I run those both stereo, one with reverb, one without.
I got a couple pedals.
Wah pedal is my main thing.
And I've got a little full-tone Univibe and a fuzz.
Gotta have a fuzz.
Tube screamer is always a trusted one.
Warm and fuzzy is always a good way to go.

I always love to go up to the bridge position,
maybe have a little stomp on it.

[C] [E] I think guitar culture is kind of in a good place, you know?
There's a lot of people seeing it as a form of expression again.
So that's what guitar is for me, is an expression of emotion.
And I think a lot of people in a younger generation
are starting to feel the same thing.
And there's a lot of cats out here really bringing the guitar back
and making it cool again.

[Abm] I've been referred to as a blues player or a rock player or whatever.
But there's all these different [N] inspirations
that I kind of take and try to put together into my own kind of gumbo.
And I've never really accepted the term of blues player
because I think there's so many greats that have done that
and have been that, and they were so pure.
I often feel like a mutt of a guitar player
because I like to chicken pick or flat pick,
but I'm not a bluegrass player or a country player.
I just like to pull from all these places and try to create my own path.
As far as carrying the torch going forward,
it's a lot of honor that I feel just to be able to do that
with as much dignity as I can.
Something that I hear a lot is like,
man, that guy's got all the luck.
Some people are very lucky.
And I feel like I am very blessed and lucky.
That's certainly a part of it.
But I feel like I'm blessed and lucky to be driven
in something that I love.
And that's what I say to anybody that looks up to me,
is if you're passionate about this and that you love it,
you should really just approach it with a lot of tenacity,
never arrogance, but with a lot of drive
and a lot of respect for the craft itself
and a lot of dignity and just carry yourself.
Self-respect is very important.
If you don't respect yourself, nobody else surely won't.
