Hey, so finally got around to trying to make a
tutorial for Miss Celia's blues
It's only a couple of years late but anyway
[C] So I play Miss Celia's blues start out in the C harmony, and that's pretty much the core the
Center of the tune the tonal center right the [E] key all right, so but I'm gonna do section by section
So we'll do the intro first okay, [Gb] so we've got I'm gonna play it one time through and then we'll break it down
[C]
[G]
[C] [B] Mmm
[Gm]
[C] [G] [D]
[Db] [Em] [E]
[C] So [Ab] that's where the verse would begin so we've got this [E] intro starting with a nice bluesy lick right
[C] [Am]
[C] So we're just taking a C [B] triad on the [Em] eighth fret
third [C] the fifth and the root right
And it's important that you understand we're gonna hit this C as a pedal point the top [B] notes gonna hit
It's gonna remain static right it's gonna stay there
[Am] But this third below it right this third interval below it is what's gonna be moving
[C] It's just gonna [Am] go right down chromatically [C] till we get to this major third, so you've got minor third
[Ebm] [Dm] [C] To major third right on the C major right okay, [Abm] and you hit the top note [Am] you can arpeggiate it right
[Ebm] [C] So
That top note the [Dm] C is staying the same as the [C] third below it is moving
Throw in a little arpeggio
[Am]
And [Gb] then
[B] It goes to the five chord and it's an augmented five okay G [G] augmented
So we've got the G on the 10th fret G
B
[B] D sharp G G E [G] sharp G
For the five chords the one [B] the three the [G] sharp five and the one
[B]
Okay
so we walked [Gb] up from
[B] And [E] this spa that's a third of the C.
It's an E.
Okay E
[F] [Gb] F [G] sharp [B] G
All right that turns around and leads us to the one right
[Ab] So let's look at the chords for the actual intro itself right and this harmonic rhythm is twice as fast
As the verse right the chords [C] change twice as fast so I
go
[B] [Db] [Gm]
[A] [D]
[Ab] [G] [Em]
[D] [C] [N] Sister so that's the verse where [C] that begins so those changes are just to C major big bar chord on eighth fret
All right [B] B7
It's going down a half step
This is this nice little chromatic movement [Gm]
to a G minor
The B flat in the bass right first inversion G minor, and I move this this top voice
[Bb] and then [A] it goes right to a
7 right which moves perfect chromatically [Eb] then you can
[D] There's a D 9 [Eb] right I just threw in a chromatic chord right before it
[D]
Doesn't matter you can go a chromatic chord above chromatic chord below and go up
As long as you put the emphasis of the harmony you want on the strong beat right if you can be move around with
Chromaticism why that's the beauty of jazz and blues right you have [Gb] to do it the same way every time
[C] All right, so we have the C
[B]
B [Gm] 7
G minor B flat bass [A] a 7
[D] to the D 7 or D 9 [Fm] to a flat 13 which [Ab] perfectly leads [G] chromatically into the
G 13 right so it's the 5 chord of the 1 [A] and I put a little lick and put whatever lick [G] you want
[D] [C]
Sis
[B] All right so that leads to the verse okay, so that's the intro
We'll do the verse next and hope that makes [C] sense and
You know everyone says subscribe like I don't give a I don't care if you subscribe or like

That's why you're checking it out so
[D] Anyway, hope it's of some benefit and helps you to enjoy the tune because it is a great tune
