[N] Is this your first time performing together?
Yes.
This is my first time performing with Pat, and it's the biggest honor ever.
This is such a moment for me to remember.
This is so amazing.
Huge.
So great to have all you rocking women here.
But was there a lot of sexism when you first started out?
It was a nightmare.
Yeah, it was a nightmare.
Every day was a new
I used to call it the gauntlet,
because every single day somebody else would be,
why don't you just come in here and sit down on my lap, and we'll get that record played.
Really?
That kind of thing?
Really?
How have you and Neil managed in the rock and roll world to keep it together?
Well, he's really nice.
And we made a commitment really early on.
Yeah, but a lot of commitments don't last, especially in the rock world, you know?
Tell him why.
She's always right, by the way.
There's no woman in this solar system that isn't right.
So I've heard that you've said that you wouldn't even be who you are, where you are,
without women like Pat and Stevie and Joan.
I mean, it's true.
These women paved the way for artists like me,
and they were the first women in rock and roll,
and had to go head to head with other male bands.
So, I mean, they're strong, they're independent, they're doing what they love,
and that's really just what it's all about.
Yeah.
Thank you, Pat and Abra.
The latest CD is Goodbye Lullaby, and you can read more about Pat Benatar's legendary life and career
in a memoir, Between a Heart and a Rock Place.
Don't you love that?
