[D#] Hi friends, this is George.
I'm going to do an instructional video using my 6 string.
It sounds quite a bit different than the 12 string.
I will show you the intro on the 6
string and then I'm going to show you a second verse, a change in the second verse that Johnny
and Judy played.
[A#] My 6 string is tuned down a half step just like my 12 string on that
instructional video I did.
If you want to listen to the strings in tune [D#] up.
[G#] [C#] [F#]
[A#] [D#]
Okay, I'll
play that intro and then I'm going to play the second verse.
You'll need to forgive me
for my boys singing it down an octave, a normal pitch, since they can't sing it that high
with the guitar only tuned down a half step.
So this is how this goes.
[C#] [F#]
So you speak to me [C#] of sadness [B] and the coming of [F#] the winter.
[D#m] The fear that is [A#m] within you
now, [B] it seems to [C#] never end.
[F#] And the dreams that have [C#] escaped you [B] and the hope that [F#] you've
forgotten.
[D#m] You tell me that you [F#] need me now, [C#] you want to be my friend and so on.
[A#] And then on the second verse, that change is on the line where it goes.
They will comfort you [N] and
me in their innocence and trusting they will teach us to be free.
On the word trusting,
John throws in an A minor where he doesn't do that on the first verse.
I will [F#] show you that.
They [C#] will comfort you and me in [B] their innocence [G#m] and trusting [F#] they will teach us to [C#] be free.
[E] Again, it's that A [F#] minor there.
They [C#] will comfort you and me in [B] their innocence [G#m] and trusting [F#] they will teach us to be [C#] free.
For [F#] the children and [C#] the flowers are [B] my sisters and [F#] my brothers.
[D#m] Their laughter and [A#m] their
loveliness [B] will clear a [C#] cloudy day.
[F#] And the song that I [B] am singing is a [C#] prayer to non [F#]-believers.
[D#] Come [D#m] and stand [F#] beside us.
[C#] We can find a [B] better way.
And I'll play this slower.
[F#]
[D#] It's a sweet song.
But I [E] just want to let you know, you know, a lot of
John [D#] Denver's music, the way he plays the guitar, maybe some songs are quite simple, but the way he
accents the notes is just incredible.
And that's a prime example in the song.
You [C#] [F#]
[E] know, you hear how
he accents those [C#] notes there.
[F#m] Right there.
[F#]
Pretty neat.
[N] Anyway, happy picking.
I hope that helps.
And thanks for listening and watching.
Goodbye.
