So I just want to show you a couple of things that you can do to move from a five chord
back to the one chord
using the diminished scale and
you'll find that I use that same rhythm a ton and
It never seems to quite get old
so
And a lot of arpeggio and scale, you know, it's not like I'm playing
Licks that I sat down and worked out very much
there's a little bit of that in my playing but I've had a tendency to kind of use these simple elements and
kind of
Force myself into finding a way to make them work
You know that seat of the pants thing thrown into the deep end of the pool thing
It's how I came up in music
and I think it's been helpful in some ways because it helped me develop a style and
Some of the things that have come out of that style.
I'm going to show to you right now
based on the diminished scale
so
triad
Like if we're in the key of [G] G
[Gm]
[G] [D]
[G] So that's what we're using that [D] last little bit before we go back to the five chord.
So I might do something like this
One two, see
[G]
Okay, that's like a little melody right?
[B] Hmm
[G] or ended on the seventh
[B]
[G] [D] [C]
[E] [G]
[Ab] [C] [G] Now that you know
[Ab] [C]
[G] When you go to the four chord, basically you're doing a five one
Because G is the five chord of the key of C.
So I just played that
[Bm]
[D] to get to the C [Gm] chord
[Eb]
[Em] [Dm] [G]
[Bm]
[Am] [Bb]
[G] [Dbm]
[G] [B] [E]
[G] So I just played [Gm]
[D] so
[E] D is the altered [G] chord, right?
[C] [Dbm]
[G] [Bm]
[Eb] [G] So, you know where I'm at and the chord change, right?
It's the last two bars
[C] [Bb]
[G] [B] [Dm]
[G] [C] [Dbm]
[Em] [Bb]
[B] Nice little diminished thing.
[E] [Eb]
There's your scale right on the D.
[B]
[Em] So a lot of arpeggios
In my playing
