[Bb] Hi, [Cm]
[Bb] [C] I'm Robin Ford.
I've been using D'Addario strings and picks since at [F] least the early 80s.
And [Am] I [E] have occasionally [G] tried other things [C] and always found them wanting compared to
what [G] I've already been using [Cm] for such a long time.
I use [G] D'Addario 10s, 10-46, [D] and D'Addario heavy picks.
[G] The standard, [Dm]
[C] this type.
[F] And the [C] quality [F] control has just been so high.
And it is so rare that I run [D] across any problems.
Pick up a pick, put on a [G] set of guitar strings where I [C] feel like I have to change something.
Something's not right.
And I've been so [G] impressed with that.
And D'Addario is also [C] taking incredible [D] care of me wherever [G] I am in the world.
And I love the company and I am completely satisfied and [Gb] have no interest in any other product whatsoever.
When it comes to strings and picks, this is [Bbm] it.
[Bb] [F] [Db]

[Abm] [Bbm]
[Cm] [Bbm] [Abm]
[N] [Cm] I am a self [C]-taught guitar player.
I took saxophone lessons [Eb] at an early age, but I taught myself [F] the guitar.
And [Gbm] that was, [Fm] I would say, a very hard way to go, but also [Gm] I learned some things [G] out of that.
Which was that [B] I had to rely on [Db] my own abilities to [Cm]
grow.
[Gbm] And I also had to have [Fm] really big ears [Gb] so that I could hear what was going [F] on around me.
And [Ab] there [G] are strengths and weaknesses [Fm] to that.
[A] The one thing that I did do in [G] terms of study [C] was I learned every [A] guitar chord I know, [Am] except maybe one or two.
I learned [Gb] out of a [G] book, which [C] for me was the Mickey Baker Jazz Chords, Volume 1.
[Fm]
And I actually [Bbm] have since done a book of my own called [C] Blues Rhythms,
which is my kind of modern extrapolation on that book based on the blues in particular as opposed to [A] traditional [E] jazz, which his [Em] book was.
[Bm] Learning chords is something [E] that guitar players, I really wish that they would think about and do.
Because the guitar has become more and more kind of [F] a colors instrument, an [Dm] effects instrument.
[E] And there's less demand of a guitar player on a technical level in terms of chops and also [C] [Dbm] chordal knowledge, harmonic [Am] knowledge.
So I really [B] would encourage guitar players to learn chords.
Get a book, a good book, [E] a simple book.
Learn chord voicings and simple ways to use those chords.
For me it was the blues that was a [B] perfect place for me to learn how to use all these jazz voicings [Abm]
in a setting that [Em] was funkier and more kind of down to earth soulful [A] music.
So learn chords.
Don't wait too long [E] to get in a band.
Don't wait until you think you're ready.
[B] Do it when you're not ready and you'll [E] learn a lot faster.
