[B] [C#m] [E]
[N] Hey everyone, thanks for being here.
I got a request from Garrett who wanted to learn how to play Silver Wings.
He wanted to learn the version by Garrett Hedlund, [E] but if you want to play that version
you can just take [N] the capo off.
I'm going to be doing the Merle Haggard version and we're going to be playing that with the
capo [E] on the second fret.
[A] [Em] [C#m] [E] We're going to have four chords in the song.
We're going to have D, E minor, [F#m]
[B] A, [F#] and we're going to have E major also in there.
So those are all the chords for the [N] song.
We'll go ahead and zoom in here and I'll show you how to play the intro, the [Bm] verse, and the [E] chorus.
It's just basic strumming for this song.
So let's get started on that.
[C#] [E]
[C#m] [E]
Okay, so for the intro we're just playing the D chord.
I'm doing [C] a hammer-on on the fifth string, [B] open [F#] to the [B] second fret, [F#m] [E] and then open fourth string.
[B] So, [F#]
[B] and [C#] [E] [C#m] [E] then we're going into [A] the D chord.
So here's what that looks like one more [B] time.
[E]
[C#m] [E]
The strumming pattern for this song is just going to be straight up down, and you can
alternate on the bass notes if you want.
For the D chord you can hit the D, fourth string, then the fifth string.
So [C#m] for the E minor you [F#m] can hit the sixth string, then the fifth string to [E] alternate the [Am] basses.
And for the A you can [B] hit the fifth string, and then the sixth string.
[F#m] [E] So we'll go, I'll go play the intro [A#] one more time and then we'll go [C#] straight into the first verse.
[E]
[C#m] [E]
[F#m]
[B]
[E]
[F#m]
[B] [F#m]
[E] Okay, that's the first verse for you.
And then for the [F#m] chorus we're going to start out [E] on the E minor chord.
So here's the [F#m] chorus.
And [B]
[E] [D#]
[E] what I'm doing there is for this D, I'm playing the D, and then [D#] I'm going to play
the bass note up here [A] on the fifth [G#m] string, [E] fourth fret.
[D#] [E]
[F#m] So here's the [E] start of the chorus again.
[F#m]
Don't leave me, [B] I [E] won't take that airplane ride.
[F#] Just lock me out, I'm standing here [B] behind.
And [E] then we go back into another verse.
And that's really all there is to that.
So what I'm going to do right now, if you still need a little bit [N] of help with it, I'm
going to play the intro, verse and chorus, and I'll just play all that straight through
for you if you still need a little bit of help.
[G#] So here we go one [B] more time.
[C#m] [E]
[C#]
[E]
Silver wings, shining in the sunlight.
[F#m] Roaring engine, headed somewhere [B] in flight.
They're taking you [E] away, leaving me lonely.
[F#m] Silver wings, [B] slowly [F#m] fading down [E] the side.
[F#m] Don't leave me, [B] I won't [E] take that airplane ride.
[F#] Cause you've locked me out of your mind, and left me standing here [B] behind.
[C#m] [Em]
[A] [E] [C] Alright everyone, if you haven't subscribed yet, please [N] do that.
