[B] Hey everybody, it's Jason Shadrick, Premier Guitar.
We're at the Summer NAMM show [C#] in Nashville and we're at [E] the Kiesel booth with our old
buddy Johnny Hyland.
How are you doing today?
I'm doing good man.
Good to see you brother.
So you have a [Em] new signature model from Kiesel.
I do [E] man, I'm so proud of it.
So tell us a little bit about how this all came together.
Well you know man, I've been a T-style player all my life for the most part.
But I got [Em] to the point though where I was kind of disgusted with the fact that T-style
guitars became almost untouchable in price.
[F] And [F#] you couldn't really get all [B] the features you wanted unless you liked a standard T-style guitar.
The relic thing got really big and all that [G] stuff.
But for [E] me man, I was the kind of guy that had steak fries for fingers Jason, so I wanted
to get the knobs [Em] moved up a little bit where you could really access the switch and the volume knob.
So if you wanted [Am] to do your [F#] [C#] [F]
[E] [B] volume swells and be able to flip the switch at the same time.
So to be honest, [Em] outside of the price point itself man, when we contacted [E] Jeff, he completely
understood what I was looking for man and what I was trying to [Em] go for.
So the Johnny model was born man and I'm just so excited about it Jason.
[A] It's a great, great guitar man.
So tell me about [Em] the kind of the, a little bit of the features.
So we moved, you moved the controls [G] like you mentioned.
What about the pickups [C] and wood configuration?
What were you looking for?
[E] Well man, I love Swamp Ash.
So it's a really lightweight [B] Swamp Ash body.
And of course I went with a hip shot [E] hardtail, you know, to kind of stay true to tradition.
But I've got my Johnny Highland Signature Electric City pickup six shooter [Em] singles in here.
And they absolutely sound amazing man.
Plus I have my own five way switching in here.
And essentially one, three [C] and five are like your stock Tele.
So you got bridge and then the middle, you got bridge [E] and neck and then all the way you
got neck on the fifth position.
[Em] Second position is the bridge and middle, [E] but fourth position is just the middle by itself.
So you can do middle Tele, middle Strat [B] and then neck pickup, you [C] know.
Yeah, it seems like, you know, three pickup T style guitars are just, they're so [Em] versatile,
you know.
They are man.
And really what I wanted to do too man was allow the pickups to be mounted directly into
the wood, you know.
[B] And on top of that man, if guys want this model with a tremolo, [C]
Kiesel just [A] teamed up
with Hip Shot and did their new Kiesel Hip Shot trim and it's amazing.
So you can actually get [E] the Johnny model with a [B] trim if you want.
[A] [C] Let's have you go [Bm] through maybe some pickup combinations and let's hear some sounds.
Absolutely [C] brother.
Well of course the bridge pickup, [A]
[B] standard Tele, you know, spank tone.
[E] [A] [E]
[Bm]
[F#m] [Am]
[E] And then of course your second position is kind of like your Steve Warner, Albert Lee
kind of, [D] you [B]
[G] [Em] [A]
[E] know.
And then the middle pickup, middle [A] position, you know, is kind of like your, [E] [Bm]
[G#] [E]
[A] [E] or you know,
your country shuffle [F#] sound, you know.
[G] [A]
[Am] [D#]
[Em] Right?
Right on.
And then of course [E] your fourth position is just now the middle pickup by itself.
Real probably Stratty type sound.
Yeah.
[A]
[D] [E]
So yeah, it has that real nice Strat appeal to it, real slappy [B] sound, you know.
And then of course you got your good old trusty neck pickup [E] man.
Now what we did on this one, Billy McGullough from Electric [B] City Pickups, I didn't really
like the sponginess of the old lipstick style in the old Teles, you know.
[Em] So we [E] kind of rounded this out almost more like a Jimi Hendrix style.
So it has a nice round, kind of nice big round bubbly sound to it.
But if you roll the tone knob off, you [F#m] can play [G#] really
[Bm] [E] [F#m]
[C#m] [D] [E] [A]
[B] nice jazz tones with it, you know.
So it's a real, real versatile guitar [E] man.
And you know, at a $1599 [F] price point man for a USA custom shop made [Bm] guitar, it's a workhorse
brother and that's [C#] what we really wanted to create was a [C] workhorse guitar for all [A] T style
lovers and you can get it right [Em] here at Kiesel Guitars guys.
KieselGuitars.com or [E]
858Guitars.
You should be a salesman Johnny.
Oh hey, I'm working at that brother.
But you know Jason, I didn't tell everybody, we do have a maple neck [Bm] here with a bird's
eye maple [Am] fingerboard.
Big black diamond inlays for the [C] blind guy, right?
But [E] get this, stainless steel frets, Kiesel lock and tuners, 22 fret neck, tusk nut, slim
line, you know, slim feeling neck.
And guys, look at the heel on the back of this Jason.
I don't know if you guys can get this.
But see how the access is so much [B] better?
You just don't get that on a standard T style man, you know.
But does it come with all those notes?
Well, I [A] guess we'll leave them right all in there for y'all man.
You just, buy a [D] Johnny model, we'll leave the licks [B] in there for you.
Alright, so it comes trim, no trim, is maple, is that the only option or do they do rose?
You can get different.
Okay.
And it comes in a bunch of different [E] colors I'm sure.
Five colors actually.
[Em] We have this whiskey brown, which is actually just called whiskey.
We have aurora [E] blue, which I believe is around here somewhere.
Then we have a whitewash, we have a scarlet red, and then we have an antique ash.
[Am] And natural looking finish.
It's kind of a grayish antique ash look, you know, it's really cool.
But just [A] absolutely in love with this guitar Jason, [E] and I am so honored and proud man to
be with the Kiesel family.
You know, they are just an amazing family, and just love everybody in the Kiesel family.
[B] And it's definitely, I've definitely found [Em] my guitar home man.
So when will these be available?
Are they available now?
They're available [E] now man, on the website.
Yep, kieselguitars.com.
Alright, we're going to have you play us out with some jams.
You got it my bro.
Thank you so much.
Thank you Jason.

But if you roll the tone knob off, you [F#m] can play [G#] really _
[Bm] _ _ _ [E] _ _ [F#m] _ _ _
[C#m] _ _ [D] _ _ [E] _ _ _ [A] _
_ [B] nice jazz tones with it, you know.
So it's a real, real versatile guitar [E] man.
And you know, at a $1599 [F] price point man for a USA custom shop made [Bm] guitar, _ it's a workhorse
brother and that's [C#] what we really wanted to create was a [C] workhorse guitar for all [A] T style
lovers and you can get it right [Em] here at Kiesel Guitars guys.
KieselGuitars.com or _ [E]
858Guitars.
_ You should be a salesman Johnny.
Oh hey, I'm working at that brother.
But you know Jason, I didn't tell everybody, we do have a maple neck [Bm] here with a bird's
eye maple [Am] fingerboard.
Big black diamond inlays for the [C] blind guy, right?
But [E] get this, stainless steel frets, _ Kiesel lock and tuners, 22 fret neck, tusk nut, _ slim
line, you know, slim feeling neck.
And guys, look at the heel on the back of this Jason.
I don't know if you guys can get this. _ _
But see how the access is so much [B] better?
_ You just don't get that on a standard T style man, you know.
This [Bm] is Jason Shadrick with Premier Guitar.
