Hello it's me the ukulele teacher here to teach you how to play the end credits to SpongeBob
SquarePants.
So grab your SpongeBob uke, make sure [C] it's in tune [Am] and get ready to play the end theme
to [F] SpongeBob SquarePants.
Now I'm going to warn you straight away this is not an easy tune to play
and you will need to download the tab from the link below.
However I am going to break it down
to you section by section and make it as easy as I possibly can for you.
Before we begin let me play
the tune all the way through so you have an idea of what it's supposed to sound [E] like. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [G] _
_ _ [E] _ _ _ [F#] _ _ [Em] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [F#] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [D] _ _
[B] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[C#] _ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
_ _ [F#] _ _ _ _ [C#m] _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [C] _ _ [F#] _ _
[E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
So let's go close up and I'm going to break it down section by section to show you exactly what
I was playing.
Again make sure you download the tab from the link below.
The main thing that you
might have noticed is almost all the way through the song I am barring the fourth fret.
That means
that with my first finger I'm pushing down all four frets at the same time.
By keeping the finger
barred on the fourth fret it just makes things a little bit easier and means I don't have to move
my left hand around as much as I might otherwise.
Now the intro goes like this. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ All I'm doing again
with the finger barred on the fourth fret is plucking the third string with my first finger
and then playing the third and second string together and then plucking the fourth string
with my thumb and then playing the third and second string together.
So it's third string,
third and second, fourth string, third and second, third, _ fourth, third, fourth, third, fourth,
third, _ [N] fourth.
So make sure you can play that because it's repeated a lot all the way [E] through
the song. _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ Once you've played that [G#] through for the intro the main riff goes like this.
_ [E] _ _ _ _ _ _
[C#] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ So basically you carry on playing the intro _ then _ _ _ _ _ [A#] with your fourth finger on the seventh fret of
the second string and your third finger on the sixth fret of the second string play seven, six,
[C#] seven and then just play the first string on the fourth fret and then go back to the [D#] seventh fret
of the second string.
[F#] So it's seven, six, seven, four, seven [G#m] and _ _ back to the intro. _ _ _
_ _ [F#] _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [G#] _ _
_ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _ [F#] _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ [D] After you've played that main riff through four times things get a little bit more complicated. _ _
[F#m] _ _ [B] _ _ _ _ _ _
[E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
To play that again keep your finger barred on the fourth fret.
Once again add your fourth finger to
the seventh fret of the second string and this time when you play it you also pluck the fourth
string on the fourth fret.
This time you play seven, five on the second string and then add
your [F#] third finger to the sixth fret on the third string and then move your third finger across from
the sixth fret of the third string to the sixth fret of the first string and then put your fingers
back on the fifth fret of the second string and the sixth fret of the third string and play the
whole thing three times.
So it's [G] and _ [Bm] _
_ [G#m] _ _ [F#] _ _ _ [G#m] _
[G] then reach up to the ninth fret of the first string and pluck
the ninth fret of the first string and the fourth fret of the fourth string [Bm] like this [C] and then move
down to the seventh fret of the first [E] string and then go back to playing the intro. _
_ _ _ _ _ [B] So that middle
section goes.
_ _ _ _ _ _ [F#] _
_ _ [C#] _ _ [C#m] _ [A#] After that middle section go back to playing the main riff [G#] again.
_ [E] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
The next section goes
like this.
_ [F#] _ _ _
_ _ [E] _ _ [D] _ _ _ _
[E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [N]
So let's break down that section.
Firstly you keep the bar on the fourth fret and add your
fourth finger back to the seventh fret of the first string and here you pluck the fourth, second and
first [E] strings like this.
Then for the first time in the song you move away from the bar and make
the following chord shape.
Put your second finger on the eighth fret of the third string, your first
finger on the seventh fret of the second string and your third finger on the ninth fret of the
[G#] first string and just play that chord but you're toggling with your little finger on and off the
eleventh fret of the first string.
So it sounds like this and [N] then put your first finger on the
eleventh fret of the second string and then move back to that bar shape with your fourth finger on
the seventh fret of the [C#m] first string.
So that bit goes [G#m] like this.
_ _ _ _ [E] _ Then you have to play the most
awkward chord in the song.
Here you have your first finger on the fifth fret of the second string,
your second [G] finger on the seventh fret of the third string and your fourth finger on the ninth
fret of the first string.
Now here you just play the first [F#m] finger on the ninth fret [C] and then slide
it up to the tenth fret and play the whole [G] chord like this.
_ Then slide it back down to the [C#] ninth
fret.
So let me play that whole section for [E] you [F#] and _ _ _
[A] _ [C#m] _ _ [D] _ _ _ _ [B]
then we move on to the ending.
It starts off with the
_ [B] _
pattern but then the second time around it changes and you play_ _ _
_ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _
[A#] So the first time around you're playing [G#] seven six [Bm] seven four seven [E]
but _ _ this time around you're
playing seven six [C] five on the second string and as you play five on the second string you move
your third finger over to the sixth fret on the first string and play both notes together and
then play the fourth fret on the first string [D#] _ and _ then up to the [Em] seventh fret [A#] and then end by playing
[E] half the intro again.
_ _ _ _ So let's put the whole thing together. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [C#m] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [B] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ _ [C#m] _ _
_ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [Bm] _ _ [A] _ _ [C#m] _ _
[D] _ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [G#] _ _ [Em] _ _
[A#] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ And [D#m] that's how to play the end theme from SpongeBob SquarePants.

[E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

whole thing three times.
