Start Jamming...
[G] I met them in North Carolina.
I was at a party, actually a party at our rental house that my wife and her [Am] family had.
And they said [G] a local band was going to come [D] over and [G] play.
I wasn't invited.
You weren't there?
[C] It was actually just me and Mike that sealed the deal on [N] that.
What are you talking about?
You weren't there, Nicky?
Are you serious?
It was just me and Woody.
Gee, [G] I remember like an orchestra.
[C] [G]
[C] [G] This whole bluegrass thing at [D] this point in my [Gm] life was really [C] an accident.
[G] And I really hadn't played for a long time.
And I said, well, there's no point in me playing a standard bluegrass song because there's guys who can play [Gm] circles around me.
But I have some songs I've written.
[G] And I thought, well, maybe I could do a record where I play [C] four of my [G] songs and then host [C] other people's music that I like.
[G] So I thought, well, maybe I'll do a whole record.
I mean, it's now or never.
So I did a [C] whole record and it won a Grammy.
[G] [C] And then we did another record.
Then I ran into the Rangers because we went on tour together.
[G] We started gelling.
And I realized that we really enjoyed creating a show, a show on the road.
So here I am.
And you'll be fine.
Slow and steady is the race.
It puts a smile there on her face.
She'll be satisfied and pleased every time.
It's just a really unique [C]
[G] writing style.
There's not a lot of people who write [C] tunes, especially [G] vocal tunes on the banjo.
There's not a lot of people who write like that.
But I think that's one thing that's really unique about Steve, yeah, is that he plays both really well and really often.
Like on our records, you'll find a pretty even split of [E] three finger climber.
And there's not a lot of banjo players.
I love climber.
All the songs you're hearing tonight were written by myself or along with the Steep Canyon Rangers.
This is one we wrote together.
And I like to write songs about love because songs about love are so universal that you don't have to really think too hard about the lyrics.
Because you can almost say anything, and it'll apply to someone.
I heard that song on the radio the other day.
Remember that?
And I said, wow, it's like [N] that person is actually talking to me.
And I remember that lyric.
Oh, yeah, it was, I'm breaking up with you, Steve, you white-haired bastard.
[E] Anyway, this song is called Go Away, [G#] Stop, Turn Around, Come [Em] Back.
[Bm] [A] [E]
[D] [C#m] [A] [Em] [C#m]
[B] [E] I [F#m] don't want [E] to lose you, though you think I do.

[F#m] When I [E] say I love you, you know just what I mean.
My [D] thoughts like [E] caught in heaven, somewhere in between.
[A] [E] Go away, stop, turn around, come back.
Go away, stop, come back.
Go away, stop, turn around, come [A] back.
Go [Em] away, stop, come back.
I [D] don't want [E] to bend you, [B] wrong to [E] be that way.
[D] Don't [E] know where to send you, here or far away.
[D] Let's just [E] say it's [A] over, [E] time to move along.
Wait, [D] it's [E] Tuesday evening, our favorite show is on.
