Evening all.
I'd like to tell you a story about when I was a very young boy.
I must have been 3 or 4 months old at the time, and I didn't know what I wanted.
But if I did, I wouldn't have been able to tell anybody because all I could do was gurgle.
So I sat there in my chair thinking one day, looking at my tray, [A] and thinking what I'd give for a meal on there.
So I started looking around the kitchen to [Ab] see what I could have.
I was rubbing my eggy-solidry [G] in my head trying to think.
And then I looked over in [Gb] the corner, [A] and [N] there's a yellow and white bread bin with its mouth open.
Just staring at me like [E] I saw bread in there.
[Bb] I thought, [A] a piece of toast.
[Bb]
A little [Gm] piece of toast.
But [Abm] then I started getting older, and I hated this.
I hated that expensive, [Ab] slag-less, loony-crusting cafe's couldn't cater for the finer [Gb] things in life.
The upper crust was not for me.
I could tell that.
So I'd [F] go home, switch the kitchen light on, put the grill [E] on, slip a slice [Bb] under, and [Gb] have a [Bb] toast.
A little piece of [Ab] toast.
Because there's so much to [Bb] choose from.
There's brown bread, white [Am] bread, also there's [Ab] the wholemeal bread.
It comes in friendly packages with writing on the side.
But it doesn't matter which one you have, because cut the crust off, [Abm] have it with [Ab] marmalade or butter, cheese, tomatoes, beans, banana, or chocolate.
It'd be strange.
It doesn't really [Dbm] matter.
[Bb] Oh, no, it all goes with [G] toast.
A little piece [A] of toast.
I'm gonna think about it some.
[Ab] [Em]
[G] [Gb]
Just [F] toast.
[E] That's [Gb] [G] toast.
Just toast.
[A]
[Abm]
[G] [C] [Dbm]
[F]
[C] [Em] [Bb] [Gb] That's toast.
Yeah, just toast.
[Am] So then Friday was me day off.
I'm [Ab] walking down the supermarket with me basket in me.
And I'm walking from one [G] counter to another, trying to find a bread store, but I [Gb] can't find it [Abm] anywhere.
And then I [Gb] bump into a mother [Fm] with her baby in her basket, and she says,
Oh, look, I [E] come down here for a little bit of peace and quiet, get [Bb] some bread, and go on making toast.
Just toast.
I like toast.
And I says, yeah, but I don't like [G] toast.
[E]
Okay, screed that toast, boys.
[Dbm] [F]
[E] Just toast.
Ladies and [Bbm] gentlemen, that's [G] toast.
[Bb] Just toast.
[Am]
I can't think about it anymore.
I've [Ab] got to go and have some.
Yeah, I must admit, I'm getting a bit browned up standing here as well.
Take [G] care.
[Dm] You're gonna have some toast. Let's go.
Okay, then.
[Gb] See ya.
Night, all.
