[G] I think that a lot of people [D] still think New York is [N] scary.
[D] New York City will take care of you.
It'll also [Ab] kick your [Em] ass.
[Bm] [B]
[N] So I grew up in Long Island.
When I was 15, I got involved and actually started going to DIY shows in Brooklyn,
like Death by Audio and 2D5, pretty much every weekend.
And I started playing in [D] bands.
[Dm] [D] [Dm] [C]
[D] [G] [Gb] [D] Underground rock music isn't something [G] that is right there in front of your face
[D] when you're growing [C] up in the suburbs.
[F] There's [C] no way to know that [Dm] it's still happening until you just stumble across it somehow,
[C] and it's really hard to do that.
Yeah, [D] I think from a young age I wanted to be a musician, like be in a rock band,
but it just seemed like such, [Ab] like literally an impossible thing.
[D] [Fm] [D] [G]
[C] [N]
I think that the musical climate is definitely different from when we were going to shows.
I think it's just being harder for artists to exist here.
Venues are just so, so afraid to have kids that are under [A] 21 in their [Em] venues
because [Fm] they're afraid they're going [Ab] to lose their liquor license.
I think [N] that's a part of the reason there's not a lot of other like really young New York bands,
because it's like, you know, everywhere you try to play you get shut down,
and it's like kids who are 14 and 15 are the ones [B] who need it the most.
[Abm]
[B] 2014 was the [Db] year that we [Abm] played the most shows in New York City out of any band,
[E] and I think that's the best [Abm] thing that a band in their first year can do,
is just play [Gb] like every day.
[B] [Gb]
All [Abm] [Gb] three of [B] us grew up almost on stage, like became teenagers [Ebm] on stage,
and I think that's where [Abm] we really feel [Ebm] comfortable is on [Gb] tour.
I think that's really [Gb] like our comfort zone.
[B] I think that's why the band works as well as it has.
I [E] just want our generation to have its [Dbm] moment.
I want our Nevermind to come out.
Like an [Abm] album by any band that will just be true [Gb] rock music,
that [Ebm] will just get [E] really popular.
[Dbm] [Abm] [Gb]
