Marty Schwartz here, GuitarJams.com.
Happy to give you another lesson, kind of classic rock, capo on the first fret, but
a bunch of easy cowboy chords, open chords kind of thing.
Also I'm going to leave a link below for some of those solo techniques I was playing there,
like just classic rock solo techniques.
Leave a link down there on my other YouTube channel, totally free, just go right there.
Anyway, let's get to this lesson.
We'll zoom in and I'm going to show it to you.
Here we go.
Alright, let's learn this tune.
So, we've got the capo on the first fret, and if you don't have a capo you can take
a pen, tie some string, tighten it up.
You just need something to press down on this first fret.
Okay, the basic gist of the song, which is pretty [Eb] easy, is D, [Bb] A, to [F] E.
That's like the main [Eb] part of the song.
[Bb] [F]
[Eb] [Bb] [F]
[B] And I [C] am a big fan of this A with one [Bb] finger chord.
The high E is kind of muted.
[Ab] And then the G with the double finger, the ring finger [Eb] here [Ab] and the pinky there.
[Abm] We're going to need that as well.
But the main part of the [Eb] tune, [Bb] D, [F] A, E.
[Eb]
[Bb] [F]
[Eb] [Bb] [F]
But we want to get a rhythm [Eb] going like this.
[Bb] [F] [Eb]
[Bb] [F]
[G] And we're going to do this.
[F] Down, down, up.
Look again.
Down, [Eb] down, up.
And on that up, we're going to switch to the A.
So you've got, [Bb]
[Eb] [Bb]
followed by [Eb] another up.
[Bb]
And [Em] then we get to the E and we're [F] going to go down.
[Eb] So, [Bb]
[F] [Eb]
down, [Bb] down, up, [F] up, down, up, down, down, [Eb] down, up, down, [Bb] down, up, [F] up, down, up, down,
down, [Eb] up, down, [Bb] down, up, [F]
up, down, up, down, [Eb] down, up.
[Bb]
[F] [Eb] [Bb]
[F] [Eb] [Bb]
[F] [Eb] [Bb] With [F] [Eb] [Bb]
[F] [Ab]
that same rhythm, there's a little change in the verse.
And it's the same rhythm, three chords, G, D, A.
[Eb] [Bb]
[Ab] [Eb] [Bb]
[F]
[Eb] [Bb] [F]
[Ab] So hopefully you saw that.
[Eb]
[Bb] Then [Ab] we [Eb] [Bb]
[Eb] [Bb] [F]
[Eb] [Bb] [F]
[Ab] have what's called a pre-chorus.
Ring out on G.
Whoa!
[Bb] To A.
A, [Eb] [Bb] D, [F] A, D.
[Eb] [Bb] [F]
[Eb] [Bb] [F]
[Eb] [Bb] [F]
[Eb] [Bb]
[Eb] [Bb]
[F]
[Eb] [Bb] [F]
[Ab]
[Bb]
[F]
[Eb] [Bb] [F]
That is the whole [Eb] thing.
Those are all the parts.
There's a bridge though.
And it [Db] goes like this.
[Ab]
[Db] [Ab] [Db] [Ab]
[Db] [Ab] [F]
[C] [F] [C]
[F] [C] [F] [Bb]
[Fm]
[F] Now into the solo.
And so what we're doing there is if you've got the capo on the first fret,
we're going to go up three.
One, two, three.
And we're going to just alternate between the A bar chord shape.
That, which is like that.
And the E bar chord shape.
And you [Db] go.
[Ab] [Db]
[Ab]
[Db] [Ab] [Db] [Ab]
[Db] [Ab] [Db] [Ab]
And [Abm] then when you're there on the third from the capo,
you go [B] one, two, three, [F] four up.
And you do the same thing.
[C]
[F] [C] [F] [C]
[Eb] [Bb] [F]
[Ab]
Into the solo.
So [Db] that's that little bridge section.
The bridge section.
Tongue twister there.
And if you're an acoustic player [N] and you're just wanting to play the song,
you don't really even need to do that bridge to pull the song off as a singer
with the basic open cowboy chords.
But obviously it's nice to know that.
And then you could do a little tag on the end where it would be like D to A, D to [Fm] A, [Eb] E.
It's like.
[Bb] [F] [Eb]
[Bb] [F] [Eb]
[Bb] [F] [Eb]
[Bb] [F]
[G] Alright.
I hope that helped.
It's a great, great tune.
And it's so awesome that Tom Petty, his guitars were stolen and he got them back.
It's good news as well.
We're all happy.
Anyway, we'll see you in another lesson real soon.
Thanks for the support.
See you later.
