Welcome to Vandability.com. This is in response to a request for Turn, Turn, Turn.
The 1965 hit for the Byrds was originally written by Pete Seeger.
This song
has two guitars in it in the band.
Obviously, David Crosby is playing rhythm and Roger McGuinn, of course, playing the 12th string and
McGuinn is playing
mostly banjo roll style finger picking.
So
I'm going to teach a version that
gets some of that sound but doesn't involve learning banjo rolls and wearing
metal picks on your fingers.
There's a lot to cover here.
So in the
in part one
I'm just going to do a playthrough and cover the the introductory riff and then in part two
we'll do the the chorus and verse.
It actually goes in that order and in part three we'll do the the solo.
So a lot to cover.
Let's get started.
[E] [D]
[E] [D]
[Em] [D] [F#]
[A] [G] [D]
[A] [D] [G]
[D] [A] [G]

[E] [A]
[F#]
[D] [B]
[D] [A] [D]
[Bm] [A]
[B] [G]
[F#] [D]
Okay
[N] The intro which also is the outro basically.
Pretty simple.
There is hybrid picking in it, but it's very very simple.
What you're going to do is you're going to start off with your
by fretting the D string.
I'm sorry the B string, [D] the third fret and
you're going to play the D string with the pick and then you're going to play the [F] B and the E strings with these [B] two fingers like that.
[Dm] So it's just
and [B] [D]
[E] then come down and play the [A#] D string
second fret.
[E]
[D] Then [E]
you're gonna play a B minor chord [F#m] and [B] an A.
And [D] that B minor is just ring finger on the D string
fourth fret pinky on the G string fourth fret
middle finger on the B string third fret and first finger on the E string [Bm] second fret.
[A]
So you play [D] that part twice [E] [E]
and then after you play that twice you play something
that's very similar except that when you get to you play
and when you get to this part
you [F] play the B and E strings in an [E] arpeggio and
then move up from the [B] D string second to the D string fourth
to the [Em] fifth and then this.
[A]
So
[D] [B]
[Em] [A]
and that's the intro and then the the [C] outro in the studio version of the song you [D] just repeat
[Em] [A] to fade.
So you learn that bit you learn both the intro and the outro.
