[Am] [C] Hi and welcome to Ukulele Storytime.
Well for today's song I have a special request and this
request was from Sherry and she asked me a long time ago and I'm finally getting a chance to
record this [Am] song.
Well this [C] is a song called I Love My White Shoes and you all might be
familiar with it if you've done a lot.
So this song is called I Love My White Shoes.
Pete the
Cat, I Love My White Shoes and this is a story by Eric Litwin and this is probably
you know a staple in storytime.
So Pete the Cat for those of you who don't know Pete the Cat
is this very groovy cat [Am] um who has [C#m]
white shoes.
Well he's in the book, sorry, he steps into a
pile of blueberries and it turns his shoes blue and so on and so he has a little, I mean throughout
the book he has a little song called I Love My White Shoes and it's only two, oh it's two chords
really.
It's the D chord and the G7 chord but at the end you could do a really big jazzy ending
is with the D7 chord.
Now the D chord is a newer chord that I'm introducing to you.
You can see it right back [B] there.
[C#] It'd be a terrible weather without the D chord.
It's almost a bar chord so what you do you can put your finger right there first string
[C#m] and third string.
It gets a little crowded but you can do it.
So the first three strings
and we'll sound like [D] this.
There's the D chord.
[G#] You know the G7 chord already.
[G]
[D] And then the
[G] G7 chord.
And for that last chord, the D7 chord, you know how you did this with the [B] three fingers across?
Well you can try to do a bar chord.
It makes it a lot easier for this chord.
So
take your pointer and just put it straight across and then take your middle finger [D] and put it on the
last fret, last string and the third fret.
[C] Okay.
[D]
This is the D chord
[E] and it stays on [D] there for
a bit until [F#] you change it up to singing about [G] the white shoes and then [D] you go back to the D.
So let's just sing it.
So I'll just do a simple little strum for this.
All right.
So Pete the Cat is walking along and in his white shoes and then he steps into a pile
of strawberries and what color does it turn his shoes?
It turns red.
And does he start crying?
No, he just goes along singing this song.
My white shoes, I [C#] love my
[G] shoes.
[D] I love my white shoes.
I [G] love my white [D] shoes.
I love my white shoes.
I [G] love my white [D] shoes.
I [G] love my white shoes.
All right.
And then oh and then he steps into the strawberries.
Okay and [D] then you go on to the next
color.
Let's turn on D.
I love my red shoes.
I love my
[G] G7.
[D] Back to D.
I love my red shoes.
I love [G]
[D]
my
I love [G] my red [D] shoes.
I love my red shoes.
I [G] love my red shoes.
And so on and so forth.
So towards the end he steps in mud and it turns his shoes brown,
[C] of course.
And last he steps into water.
White shoes and a [Bm] little mud.
So I'll end this video with the white shoes and the big jazzy ending.
[D] All right.
I love my red shoes.
I [G] love my white shoes.
[D]
I love my red shoes.
I love [G] my white shoes.
[D] I love my red shoes.
[G] My shoes.
[C#m] But did he cry?
Oh no because everything is groovy.
[G#] Do the [D] G7 chord.
[Bm] There you go.
And to hear the song done properly you should check out a [G] live
