Hi there, thanks for stopping by OnlineLessonVideos.com. I'm Ian Walsh, your fiddle instructor for this lesson video.
Today we're working on a tune in G.
It has two parts and we're really going to be focusing on double stops in this.
So a lot of double stops in this tune.
It's called Walking in My Sleep.
Here we go.

Ok, I hope you got a good idea of how the tune goes from that sample.
In that sample vid I was playing along to the jam track at 120 beats per minute.
So a little fast, but I think this tune sounds good at that speed.
Also, by the way, if any of you out there are following or using Facebook, make sure and like us at OnlineLessonVideos.
Just type that into the search bar and you can like us and follow us from there.
And you can send in tune requests [N] to me.
So let's continue on.
Let's get started with the tune here.
There's three chords in this tune.
G, D, and C.
So the 1, 5, and 4 respectively.
We're going to start off with the G.
And this is a bit of an intro right here.
There's only two notes for pickup notes.
But there's a bit of an intro here where sometimes backup musicians might not come in until the B and the G right in the middle.
So I'll show you.
Let's get started with it.
The first two notes are B and A on the G string.
And we walk down.
So it's just two eighth notes.
And this will come in if I was counting us in.
It would be [D#] 1, 2, 3, 4.
[G] And that [F#] G I just played there is going to be our downbeat.
And we have a big string of eighth notes coming up.
In fact, it is pretty much a G scale.
G, A, B, C, D, E, G.
So the only note we're skipping is the F sharp.
So it looks and sounds like [A] this.
[E]
[F#] And those last notes are an A and a B.
Let me take the double stop out for now just so you can get these notes nice and clean.
If I count us in, it's like this.
1, 2, 3, 4.
[A]
[E] [F#]
I'm sliding into that first B.
[Bm] [F#] It's going to be different for every fiddle player here.
However much you want to slide, how quick or how slow.
But you've got to be up there in the time that's basically a quarter note to an eighth note finish.
[A] [E] [Bm]
[G#] 1, 2, 3, 4.
[D] [G]
[F#] 1, 2, 3, 4.
[A] [E] [F#]
One more time.
1, 2, 3, 4.
[A] [Gm] [Bm]
Okay.
So the double stop we're going to put in right away here is easy.
Because it's a note that's already being played and you can leave it down.
It's just this G on the D string.
This third finger right here.
Right there.
[D] Third finger.
And we're going to play 1, 2, 3.
[A]
[G] [A] 1, 2, 3.
[Gm]
[A] 1, 2, 3.
[G] The next section that we're going to work on comes out of this G real quick with some bow bouncing.
And gets into over the D chord.
[A#] [N]
