Chords for Wanted Dead or Alive Guitar Lesson - Intro

OK, hi everybody.
This is Greg Seaman, and I want to go over
Bon Jovi's Wanted Dead or Alive.
_ And we're going to start off just by the introduction. _
And there's two chord types that are happening here
in the introduction.
_ And the shapes are where I have my first finger on the F note
on 13, _ _ and my second finger here is on the A note on 14
on the third string.
So it's this shape, _ where my first finger and second finger
are shaped like this.
_ Now the other chord shape type is
going to be where you have two fingers in the same string,
same fret I mean.
Second finger here on the third string,
and then third finger here on the first string. _
So it's going to only be those two chord types.
It's going to be first and second finger like this,
then second third, second third, first second.
And notice that my second finger stays on the third string
all the way down.
It's the first finger and third finger
that do the moving.
All right?
And then when you're picking it, you're
always picking the same strings.
You're picking [Dm] _ 4, 3, 1, 3.
And my pick direction is down, down, up, up.
Down, down, up, up.
Down, down, up, up.
[D] All right?
And this is going to be 14, _ _ [Bm] then _
_ _ [D] _ I'm sorry, 14, _
and then the third string.
I'm sorry, fourth string, [E] then 14 on the third string,
then the 13 on the first [G] string.
So this is 14 and 13.
So [Dm] I go, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [D] then I move my second finger to 12
and put my third finger on 12, _ _ _ _ _ then 10 and 10,
[Dm] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ then 8 and 9, 8 and 9.
[D] _ _ _
_ _ Then you do a big skip [D] down to 5 and 5, _ _ _ _ _ 4 and 3.
[G] _ _ _ _
_ Now when I'm here, I'm going to take [Bm] that fourth fret
and hit it again, fourth on the third string.
I'm going to hit it again and [A] slide to 2,
and then put my [F] first finger on 1, and that's the last note.
[C#] All right?
So let me do that again.
So it's [Dm] 14 and 13, _ _ 12 and [D] 12, _ 10 and [Dm] 10, _ _ [D] 9 and 8, _ _ [G] 5 and 5,

4 and 3, _ [B] slide, [Dm]
first string, first fret. _ _

So that's how you do the intro part.

that's also called, in the music that we're doing it,
it's called the link.
All right?
So now, the next section in the intro
is going to [A] be where you hit the fourth string twice
_ [C] _ and then bend on the third _ [C#] _ fret, fifth [D] string,
open on the fourth [F] string, third fret, [D] fourth string,
open on the fourth string.
[C] _ [Dm] _ _ _ [D] _
_ _ [Em] So what I do is by the time I've gotten down to this part,
[F] _ _ _ I just lift these fingers [A] off and go, [C] _ _ [D] _
_ [F] _ _ [D] _ no chord on.
_ And then I put the D chord on.
But I'm going to [G] be doing a Dsus2,
my second finger comes off, [E] so that I
can hit the first string, _ second [D] string, _ _ _ _ third string, fourth
string, third string.
So it's [B] first string, _ second string [D] three times,
_ _ third string, fourth string, [A] third string.
Pick direction is _ up, _ down, up, down, up, down, up.
_ 1, 3, 3, 3.
That's the second fret, [E] or second string.
[D] 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 4, 3.
_ Up, down, up, down, up, down, up.
_ Then I leave my [E] hand here so my second finger is ready [C] to go. _
_ [D] _ _ [F] _ _ [D] _ _ _
_ So that's going to [C] be bend on third fret, fifth string.
_ It's just a slight bend, [C#] just a half step bend.
Then [D] fourth string open. _ _
Third fret, fourth string, [F] half step bend. _ _ _
Then [D] fourth string open.

_ _ _ _ So on the last [C] part, you hit just a C note, [Am] then the F chord, _
