[N] I first discovered the music of Rolf Loveland while traveling with my family and some friends in Norway.
I was in a little shop in Bergen and stepped in there and listened to a CD, fell in love with his music from day one.
He is part of a duo called Secret Garden.
I brought that CD home and shortly after that, a year or two after that, he came to Seattle and I had a chance to meet him.
I'm also a composer and he affirmed me and basically encouraged me to continue writing.
I've always loved his music.
I've got all of the Secret Garden CDs.
I think about a year or two after I met him, he released this song on his Secret Garden CD.
Ultimately, [C] it's become nearly a classic song.
It's been sung by everybody.
It's a gentle ballad, You Raise Me Up.
When I am down, [F] and oh my [C] soul so weary
When troubles come, and my heart [G] burdened be
Then I am still and waiting [C] in the silence
Until [C] you come [G] and sit a while [C] with me
You raise [Am] me up, [F] so I can stand on mountains
[G] You [Am] raise me up, to [F] walk on
[C] stormy seas
[G]
I [C] am strong, [F] when I am on your [C] shoulders
[F]
You [C] raise me up, [G] to more than [C] I can be
[F]
[C] There is no life, [F] no life without [C] its hunger
Each restless heart [F] beats so [G] imperfectly
But when [F] you come, and I am filled [C] with wonder
[F]
Sometimes [C] I think, [G] I glimpse [C] eternity
You raise [Am] me up, [F] so I can [C] stand on mountains
[G] You [Am] raise me up, [F] to walk on [C] stormy seas
[G]
[C] I am strong, [F] when I am on [C] your shoulders
[F] You raise [C] me up, [G] to more [C] than I can be
You [Am] raise me up, [F] so I can [C] stand on mountains
[G] You [Am] raise me up, [F] to walk on [C] stormy [G] seas
[C] I am strong, [F] when I am on [C] your shoulders
[F]
[C] You raise me up, [G] to more than [C] I can be
