Hello, today I'm going to do a
Dylan tune probably my favorite Dylan tune the song is off of blood on the tracks
and that
CD album whatever you want to call it is just filled with
Probably his greatest work, but to me.
This is my absolute favorite song by Dylan.
It's you're a big girl now and
To me.
It's just fantastic so I am going to
Show you what's going on with it?
It is in standard tuning, but if you listen to the CD or the album it sounds to me like the pitch is a bit
High so you either have to slow it down
Using software or you have to tune your guitar a little bit higher a few cents higher
To be able to match it and play along with it, and I find when I play in tune with the album
It doesn't ring nice because it's just far enough off that it sounds like
Like discord basically it just doesn't do it
So if you want to play along with the record down you're gonna have to tune your guitar up
Or you're going to have to use some sort of software like gold wave or one of those that will
Slow it down, but keep change the pitch, but keep it in the same time and speed so
With that said the guitar it's got layers of guitars on the song so I'm going to show you
The basic thing and I'm going to try to fill it up as nicely as I can but there are three or four acoustic guitars
going on at the same time with [F#] it as well as a piano bass and drums and
a [C#] harmonica outro at the end that is just brilliant as well, so
[B]
the song
starts on [Bm] a B minor
[A] So the key of G is going to work best for the lead and the harmonica is a G harmonica by the way
So let me go through the intro and then the first verse or two
And then I'll stop and then I'll go over what I'm doing and then you should have it
It the intro the five verses [D] then the outro with the harmonica are all identical
[A#] So let me start
[Bm]
[Am]
[Bm] [Am]
[G]
[C] [G]
[C]
[Am] [Bm]
[Am] [G]
[D] [Bm]
[Am] Conversation sure and sweet
[Bm] He and his sweat me
[Am]
[G] And I'm back in the [C] Oh
[G]
You [C] made it there [Am] somehow
[Bm]
[Am] You're a big girl
[G]
[D] [Bm]
But on the horizon
[Am] No offense
[Bm] Singing a song for [Am] me
And his own expense [G] and I'm just like that bird [C] Oh
Singing [G] just for you.
[C] Oh
That you [Am] can hear
[Bm]
[Am] Hear me singing through [C#] these tears
[G]
[D] [N] Anyway, so I start off with a [Bm] B minor
[A]
[Am] to an A minor
[Bm]
[Am] [Em] two [G] times and then off to a G
[C]
inflection with the pinky on the G on the E [G] string
[C] Quick inflection again, then we have to do a walk down from a C to like I don't [G] know what this chord is
But you hit the B on the fifth string
[Am] Then do an a minor
[Bm] B minor [Am] to his a minor [G] B minor G
Fill it up.
[D] Then it kind of resolves on a D and
Then waits until the [D] piano rings out and I think the piano hits D's
[N] going up the
Keyboard higher and higher until it resolves then it's [Bm] time to start the verse again
[Am] [Bm]
Now I'm filling up a lot of the guitar stuff [Am] here
Because on the recording is [B] three or four guitars
[G] so
Maybe you get yourself a couple [C] of
[G] guitarists that play acoustic tasting
[C] Let them fill around you
[Am]
[Bm] [Am] [G]
[D]
[Bm] minor
[Am]
[Bm] You matter.
[Am] [G]
[C]
[G] [C]
[Am]
[Bm] [G]
[D]
[N] I hope that helps.
I hope you enjoy that
I hope you play it and I hope you get some guitarists to play alongside you
this is probably one of the most beautiful Dylan songs there ever was and
At this rate with his voice there ever will be
