[Abm] [N] Another brick in the wall.
Let me bring my microphone a bit closer.
Pink Floyd.
This one, look I got a few emails recently
asking if I could do a tutorial for this one.
I did cover it a thousand years ago.
Not very well mind you, but anyway
But just firstly please don't ask for any other Pink Floyd tutorials first up.
I don't know any other Pink Floyd songs.
To be honest, I'm really not much of a Pink Floyd fan really.
Just never really could get into their music.
Happy to show you the way I play this song anyway.
So D minor shape.
If you can bring your thumb over
[Gbm] and [F] mute the [C] sixth and fifth strings.
[Dm] Okay, so pretty much you're just going to be playing the fourth, third, second and first strings.
[D] You've got to kind of get the strum for this one.
There's some muting going on in [Am] here.
So let me just slow it right down to show you what I'm doing here.
So as I said, [F] I'm muting the sixth and the fifth strings and [Dm] I'm doing a down up [Em] down.
[Dm] So down up [C] down and then I'm just I'm not taking my fingers off the first second and third strings.
But I'm just not fretting them.
So I'm not pushing right down.
[D]
Then I'm doing a muted down up [F] and I'm back on.
Down up.
Then I'm [D] off again.
Down up.
Then [Dm] on again.
Down up.
So it's down [D] up down.
Down up.
Down up.
Okay, so that D string there is the only string that I'm not muting and it's basically just ringing out through that.
I'm doing the lower down up so I'm [Dm] muting.
Down [D] up down down up down up down up down up down up down up down up down up down up
Okay
We don't need no education
So you're just continuing that
We don't need no Control
All right, so that just keeps up until a chord change which is to [G] a G chord
All [C] right, you're gonna keep exactly the same [G] strum pattern
I'm playing a four finger G here
So I'm just releasing all [Ab] of the fingers and and basically [F] the only strings that aren't muted [Gm] are the third and fourth [C] strings
Which don't matter [G] too much if they ring out a little bit
What I sometimes [Ab] do is I just pull that finger down a little bit after I release the G and that does tend to mute
Those third and fourth strings a little bit [G] as well
Hey teacher
Leave the kids [Dm] alone
Back to the D minor
Then what you're gonna do now [D] is just this little run on the second string
Coming
[F] into an F.
[C] Now what I'm [Cm] doing is so on the D minor
I'm just gonna release my third finger all together off this
Second string and bring my second finger up onto the second string first fret to make a [D] D9 [Am] shape
[D] I'm gonna do sort of four down strokes
Down and then on the fourth one, I'm gonna hammer my pinky onto the second string third fret [Am] to make a Dsus2
[D]
And then an up down sort of a down up [Gb] sorry
[D] No [Am] up down it is
[D] Back to the [Am] D9 down down
[A] release the second string all [D] together down up down [A] and
Make sure I hit the third string while I'm still fretting it there [F] in fact
That finger is not going to come off at all [Em] for that whole [Eb] D minor [D] shape
And even strumming into [Bb] the F [E] [F] now
That [N] finger is still there so you don't have to take that [D] off
So it's a [Gb] bit tricky that part
But basically [D] you're just gonna [D] strum the fourth third and second strings
And you want to make sure you just sort of keep that [Em] plectrum coming down to that second string where where that main
[D] Where the notes are mainly happening there
F
[F] all in all [C] it's just a C
another brick [D] in the wall
Back to the D minor
Then [C]
into that little run [F] again
F all in all it's [C] just a C another [G] brick [Dm] in the wall D minor
[D]
All [F] right, so that little run there's the tricky part [N] of the song and with a little bit of practice
It doesn't take too much to get the good thing is is that that's all there is to the whole song
It's literally just playing that
Sequence over and over well however many times you need to
Obviously the recorded version goes into this massive solo
Which you [Gb] wouldn't play if you were playing an acoustic version of it anyway, so [Dm] [D] No
[Dm] Education we don't need no
Control The [D] minor
Sarcasm in the classroom
Still D minor
teacher leave them kids alone [G] G
still on G Hey teacher
Leave [Dm] them kids alone D minor
[D]
[F] F all in all [C] it's just a C another brick [D] in the wall D minor
[F] F all [C] it's just a C another brick [Dm] in the wall D minor
[N] So on so that's the song another brick in the wall
There you go.
I hope that was enough for you to learn that song and as I said again no more Pink Floyd requests, please
I know lots of people love them.
I just
