🎹 How to play a "SHOUT STARTER IN Ab" by Jermaine Roberts (easy piano tutorial lesson) chords
Start Jamming...
Hello, this is Jermaine with Piano Clubhouse.
Today, we're just gonna do a few beginning
shout starters, some shout starters.
One particular one is used by a lot of church bands, a lot of people that play.
Basically, let's take it to there.
We'll be in A flat.
[Ab]
[Bb] [C] [Bb] [D]
[Ab] [Fm]
So [Ab] in A flat, if we were to start off a shout,
one particular way would be, you probably heard somebody go something like [C] [Abm]
[Ab] that.
[C]
[Abm] That's just to get them started, then they [Ab] may just get around with the A flat.
So,
basically what that is, just
do any
inversion.
[C]
So [Ab] we start out with the A flat, [Eb]
then outline the A flat [Ab] chord.
A flat, [Eb] C, E flat, [Fm] then [Ab] F, A flat.
And then your bass is going [C] to go down to C, [Db]
[Eb] C, D flat, E flat.
[B] And your right hand is gonna play
B, B natural [Bbm] chord, a B flat chord, [Abm] and then a A flat minor chord.
[B] So that's like
G flat, B,
E flat,
[Bbm]
F, B flat, D flat,
[Abm] E flat, A flat, D.
[C] [Db] [Eb]
That's how we're doing.
[C] [Eb]
[Ab] [C]
[Abm] [Gb]
And then if you want to stay in that same little style right there,
[Abm]
use [Gb] the same chords
[Eb]
with a [Gb] different bass
the second time.
So the first time you may [Ab] want to go,
[B]
[F] [Eb] [B] so same chord,
[Abm]
[Gb] just walk it down from the G [F] flat, [Eb]
F, E flat.
[Ab] That's a little different.
[C] [Db]
[Eb] And then they may,
[Bb] [B] [Abm]
something like that.
You can just play around with that depending on how the service feels, how it's flowing.
But that's just one quick way to kind of get a shout started.
You don't even have to play the [Ab] bass, just
[C] [Eb]
[Ab] let them linger a little bit.
And like I said, some people may just
play around with the A flat a little bit [Bb]
in that little dead [Ab] space.
[F]
[Eb] [Ab] E flat.
That's all you're doing. So,
[Bb] [C] [Db]
[Ab]
[B] [F]
[Eb] a little shout starter just to get them started.
All right.
That's it.
This has been Jermaine [D] with Piano Clubhouse.
That's a little shout starter to get you started shouting in church.
All right.
[Cm]
[Ab] [Bb] [Eb]
[Gm] [Ab] [Dm] [Eb]
[Ab] [A]
[G] [G]
[Eb] [Ab] [Bb]
