Hi, I'm Washboard Chaz in New Orleans, Louisiana.
[B] I'm going to show you a little bit of rudiments of how to play the washboard.
This is the Washboard Workshop.
Okay, now there's a couple of things you've got to know.
Tap.
[Db]
[E] No.
[G]
You go far.
[Bm]
[B] [N] You go down.
I play left-handed, so you move this [G] all back.
[B] The washboard, what you have to do, if you try [G] to
One hand, do [B] the strumming.
On the other hand, the dominant hand, [N]
do the action.
The dominant hand is tapping.
That's some kind of strumming.
[B]
[N] This hand's always going to do that.
It'll be your left hand, right hand.
Left hand, do this hand.
[B]
Now you're going to say, now what's these things here?
[N] Like the drum set, these are the cymbals.
[B]
Well, I would make this snare drum.
[Bbm] These are the cymbals.
[Em] [E]
[B] Now you say, what's that?
That's the woodblock.
Because we've got all this metal.
We need [Abm] something to make it down low.
[B]
[E] You go down back to this.
That's all for the lesson of the washboard.
But I tell you, [G] if I could come to your place,
give you a nice [N] hour-long workshop,
and you too, stand up with me, obviously.
You'd stand up with a washboard full of [B] friends and family
and children [A] and [B] grandmas, [N] everybody in the neighborhood.
