Hi there, this is Galea Sofrudo again, and today we are going to cover a pretty different video than usual.
Today we will not talk about vocals, we will not talk about chords, we will talk about sound.
[C] Believe me, this video [D#] will be, you know, very interesting and different.
Because today I would like to go with you through one of the most famous guitar tones of the Beatles,
one of the guitars of Count [B] Together.
It's a pretty mysterious one, but we will discover everything about it,
[A] [G] [D#] Why the guitar of Count Together?
Because the guitar of Count Together in the whole track covers a lot of different sounds
by using all the tonal possibilities of the guitar itself and of the amplifier.
So for this video we will use one of our Tuscany Rush model, it's a small shape,
and the 250 amplifier by Devalve, which is a very good amp for both the clean tones and the overdrive tones.
But you can use whatever kind of tube amplifier, better if you have a tube amp, but even a transistors amp would be fine.
You just have to follow each step that I'm showing to you now very carefully,
and you will get to a set tone of the record, and you will learn how to get a very versatile tone out of your amp [G] and guitar
for whatever tune that you want.
So what you're looking for is a slightly distorted sound, slightly distorted sound,
with the rear pickup, the bridge one, this one.
Let me show you first how to do this.
You just adjust the volume how you like it, but I suggest that you don't go much higher,
even if you have a tube amp, it's not necessary.
Secondly, you put the gain all the way down so you have no sound on the guitar,
and then you rise the gain a little bit, increase the gain a little bit,
until you hear that the sound starts to come out, [A] to a level that you [G] hear that the sound is becoming alive,
but not that much.
I will now show you exactly where to go.
This way, like this.
Okay, [E] just a little bit.
Select the bridge pickup and you play [G] gently with this tone.
You will get almost a clean tone.
Remember, I'm on [F#] the bridge pickup.
But if you push harder with the [B] plectrum,
you see that you pass immediately to an overdrive, a nice overdrive,
which is exactly what you need for the chorus [G] of Come Together.
So, actually you are going in a range from [B] a clean tone,
an [C] overdrive and one, just by using your hand and your pick,
and one tone of the [G] amp.
This is very interesting stuff.
Now, if you go to the front pickup, the neck one, [G#] the sound gets cleaner, even more.
That's because you get more of the fundamental note of the strings,
rather than the overharmonics here.
So, the tone cleans up [G] even more and you get the exact note [D] that you need for the verse.
[Dm]
[D]
What [E] is even more interesting [D#] here is that you are so sensible to the touch,
that like the Beatles did in the record, you can tailor the touch to the sound that you want
and pass from a [D] clean tone, just like this,
[E] to a slightly [D] overdriving tone [E] of the end of the verse,
[A] you remember this,
[D] to a more overdriving tone for [B] the chorus.
[G] [F#] You see this.
It's exactly what the [N] guy played on the record.
So, basically today we have learned how to get three different tones from your amplifier
using just one tone of an amp, two pickups for your guitar and a plectrum in different ways.
Hope this has been helpful for you.
And you can perform a huge amount of songs this way.
So, hope you enjoyed this one and it was helpful for you.
See you next video.
Ciao!
Let me please show you, for both of you who are interested in this,
and maybe there is someone that still doesn't know how to do that,
how I get [D]
this [F#] muted tone.
I use this part of my hand here.
I put it on the strings.
To reproduce that you just do that.
You put this part of your hand on the strings and then you play a chord
and you go back, go back till you hear you obtain the correct tone.
Listen.
[D]
[B] If I stay over the [G] front pickup I don't get any tone.
But as soon as I move toward [F#] the rear pickup [D] to play an open, this is how I do this.
[A]
[D] [A]
[G] [D]
