[B] So Drunk is about my father.
It's sort of a continuation [Eb] from a [Eb] song on one of [B] our last albums called A Cancer Uncontained Part 2.
You know, [Ebm] in the first
[B] portion that I addressed that on our album Origin,
I kind of talked about his [Eb] battle with
[Ab] Parkinson's and with cancer.
[F] And, you know, kind of my admiration [Ebm] for watching him battle that disease [F] and get through that.
And, [Eb] you know, it's been almost four years since that was written.
And so I kind of notice, not so much currently, but there was a point in time with his [B] diseases.
And I think maybe the idea [B] that death was a little bit closer [Ebm] around the corner than he anticipated.
[B] I feel like he was using alcohol very heavily to kind of cope with that.
To a degree where it's funny that he has this disease that could potentially take his life.
And [Ebm] there were times where [Eb] he got so drunk that he would fall over and knock his head.
And would have to take him to the hospital.
[G] And you think about [Bbm] scenarios where [B] it's almost like alcohol could have killed him
before any type of [Db] cancer or [Ebm] Parkinson's could have.
But [Db] it was more so just my observation about, you know, seeing my [Bbm] father,
this person [B] you kind of view as a hero or kind of a guiding role, kind [Db] of being [F] manipulated by alcohol.
And, you know, it's also kind of that, you know, [B] in turn with Parkinson's,
he's kind of been experiencing like vivid visual [Eb] hallucinations as the years have gone [B] on.
And that's just been a whole other thing to get used to with his disease.
[Ebm] And he
[Eb] sees my mom a lot and I think sometimes romanticizes their relationship
even though it's been over for the past 20 years.
And I touch base on that a lot in the song.
If you're [Fm] paying attention, you'll kind of [Gb] see [B] lines that kind of cite her and cite his hallucinations.
[Db] I think I [Ebm] really just wanted to [Db] follow up on that content.
Because it was almost just called [Eb] The Cancer Uncontained Part 2,
but [Bbm] I felt like it [B] deserved its own title once we got through with it.
But yeah, I really felt [Db] like it was necessary to [Ebm] kind of just [Db] cite where he was coming from
and how he had kind of been coping with [Eb] his disease.
And, you know, he's doing a lot better.
He doesn't drink quite as much as he used to a [Db] couple of years ago.
But [Ebm] I think that [Db] it was good for us to just touch base on maybe people who use substances
to kind of try and cope [Bbm] with things [G] that they're not able to handle in their day-to-day
